Oh- I forgot. Stopped at TSC today to see if they have a fan for the incubator(they don't) and they have chicks. Black and red stars, black australorps, cornisht, and a few more that were empty. They also had the sweetest little ducklings. Indian runner straight run. Took all I had not to get some. I don't know anything about ducks though, and I figured maybe some of you would have some eggs I could hatch if I can convince DH to let me get some. They sure changed it from last year. Now they have the whole area caged off, so no touching the birds. DD6 and DS3 were disappointed they couldn't hold the chicks...

Jealous, stopped by TSC to grab some feed, they had mallards and pekins (no thanks). Would have liked a handful of runners, good for practicing herding with the Aussies. They had the typical cornish/rock X's, red sex links, white pullet layers (leghorns, I think), and surprisingly buff and dark brahmas. First time I've seen them with Brahmas. Oh, they had mixed bantys, too.

Didn't bring any home, but took an "awww" moment. Considered getting more meaties, but didn't want to give up the space for more Iowa Blues this season.

Hi all-
sorry to hear about your moms shed, bbp
unk- what is a vole, and what does LGD stand for? Cute dog!
Delish- love the pics!
Sorry to hear about all the snow problems, but not sorry to say it missed us this time. I am so tired of snow, and there are piles here 15ft high. Should be a terrible mess when it all melts

Took DD6 to the Dr. today. She stayed home yesterday from school, and was still not well today, so I figured it was time to take her in. Good thing- she has strep. Amoxycillan 2x/daily for 10 days. Yuck.
All the animals are doing well, except I know that the little horse is going stir crazy. The fenced in area where him, the goats and chickens is so full of snow, there isn't much room to roam. He got out of the pen the other day when I was feeding them and took off like a shot. It was so sweet and beautiful to see him running. He is so small, I always laugh when I see him running like that. Good thing he is a good boy and came running back down the hill when I called him. Scared me though- it was icy and I thought he was going to slip. Can't wait for spring. I am going to set up an electric fence and shelter for him and the goats on the grass. They should be happier, and maybe some of the grass will grow back for the chickens.
Got the incubator back out. Can't wait to set eggs this weekend!
Good night all
Sorry your daughter is ill..strep..yuck

LGD=Livestock guard dog... vole is a mouse like rodent
The animals will love having that extra fenced in area..the chickens too

Me too on the piles of snow. I am to short to toss it up high enough in some areas. I am not looking forward to doing more in the morning. it is still snowing and looks like I never shoveled..I did eventually get the snow blower working. I wore more than I actually moved.

A few more days for me till lock down. I am starting the Easter hatch in the one incubator, than transferring them after the hatch is done. Or doing lock down in the other one. I have not decided.

Dark brahmas are beautiful birds. They would look good hanging out with your Iowa Blues

which tractor supply had them?

Ooh, just found this thread! I'm in the research phase of my future duckling plans. Waiting very impatiently for this snow to go away so I can start building my dream coop/run!

Anybody else in Washington County?
