Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Well, we are officially chicken owners

We purchased a tetra tint, sex link, and a buff brahma from TSC on Sunday in WI Rapids. My son is so excited. Monday morning he woke up and normally starts calling for me, instead he started calling for the chicks!!

We were playing with the chicks tonight and one of them pooped on the floor. He started shaking his finger and saying " no, no! No poop!" It was hilarious!

On another note, I just wanted to send my condolences to Jim. It's never easy losing someone you love. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Hi All! I figured out how to get the tabs to work!

Still a bit of a pain compared to how they used to be.

CS... glad you got the FF going. Like someone said "think sour dough" just keep adding to it. Mines been going for over a year. When you feed you can mix your leftovers in, in their feed pan. When I want to give them extra herbs or what not I mix it in the FF because I know it will always get eaten.

BBP.... Wow, hope your mom can figure out how to get it rebuilt.

GR... Sure hope you get all that insurance stuff worked out... if they don't give you what think you should get you could always try threatening with a lawyer first. Some lawyers say they don't get paid unless you win.... but they're picky about what they will take on.

Hurley.... Glad you made it to the house!

mich...

Jeline.... Congrats on the babies!

OK, Storky is very broody! If I want to give her eggs for Easter Hatch I should do it this weekend, right?

I shovelled at about 4:30 and there is another 1" to 1 1/2" that came down after so not to bad. I guess we got about 6 1/2" or so here all toll. Not as bad as it could have been!

That's it for me.... Night!

A bit more than I would care to handle.....

Thanks Cind. I already contacted the person requesting prices and pictures. That location is only 20 minutes from me :-D I could use a few things, if the price is right!

Good morning everyone.

I hope FT is still alive. Frenchie where are you?????????????? Has anyone heard from her?

Cind-how do you remember all the items and people to comment on in your posts? I must suffer from CRS. There is no way I could do that with out making notes.

Deli-only one more day til your black laced delivery. I am so excited for you. Make a strong pot of coffee and consider hooking the dog up to a plow ;-) If I didn't have to go to work I'd come help clear you out.

Bfam- I hope I'm remembering this correctly. ...how are the kiddos? It's never fun when the little ones getsick.

Bbp-why wouldn't the shed collapse be covered under the insurance? Or even the coverage on the bike?

I've got some really twisted, yet appropriate, ideas for my contribution to the white elephant gift. As far as auction items, what materials usually are donated? I figure chicken stuff and maybe garden stuff, but anything else?

Ok I've got to start getting ready for work :'(

Does anyone know if I can give the leftover pineapple to the chickens and goats? We had it for supper last night and I was wondering if they could peck at the fruit left on the rind?

Our chickens love it. All they leave is the top and skin. Every last bit of flesh is gone.

Jealous, stopped by TSC to grab some feed, they had mallards and pekins (no thanks). Would have liked a handful of runners, good for practicing herding with the Aussies. They had the typical cornish/rock X's, red sex links, white pullet layers (leghorns, I think), and surprisingly buff and dark brahmas. First time I've seen them with Brahmas. Oh, they had mixed bantys, too.

Didn't bring any home, but took an "awww" moment. Considered getting more meaties, but didn't want to give up the space for more Iowa Blues this season.
I could check with my friends if they are hatching any runners and let you know if you are interested

. I think they are so cool looking but have resisted the tempatation, I just go to their house and watch the runners- the babies are so cute too!

to the new members!!

BBP ~~ so sorry to hear about your moms shed. I feel for her, times are tough.

Snow day yesterday, so I shoveled out the coop ..........again..... and cleaned it. Stayed home from work. 50% of the brood is sick, including the hubby ...uugghhh. So far just snot and crabbiness. Had to nebulize the 7 yr old though, he has always had issues, but thank God I have the medicine and the machine at home to do it.

Snow daze always seem like a fun idea, that is until you have a teenager. ggrrr. having a hard time with this one. Not sure quite how to handle it, or I guess I just don't make a big deal. ggeesshhhh can I have a forum and a manual for parenting correctly!!!??
The Boy, was disrespectful to his father and his coaches at practice... sigh... if he ONLY understood how talented he is and how many people he had in his corner...uggh. Anyway, since there was a snow day, apparently this is code for " I get to hang out with that special girl and my friends"........Dear .. IT is a SNOW Day for a reason! .. besides the fact, you don't get rewarded for disrespectful behavior.
So anyway, The Boy, went out to shovel and I checked his phone, as I periodically do and he had VERY ColorFull Things to say about his parents........

we give and give and get no appreciation. I know it is the AGE... i am so hurt, i thought we had a better relationship than this. well the phone is gone for a very long time. What bothers me most is that there was NO appology, not even a fake one! ggrrr uuggghhh...........

Anyway... thanks for the vent.........suggestions thoughts and wiser more experienced opinions welcome....
