Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Ok, so the guys on Craigslist selling chicken equipment/farm in IL is only selling it as 1, not parceled out. I was hoping to get a few of the items, but I'd have to buy the farm and all.

Very fat and healthy

I love the lacing..I was fortunate that I have cinnamon from them. These two are from GreenFire..my other two will be from Millie and her imports. A different strain/Line of the GLO's. Millie is sending the other two later. Probably in April..she is making sure I have three females.

Well buy the farm...

Congrats on all the new chicks!

Deli, wow! Those chicks are big already! And yikes, have they ever got some huge legs/feet. I hope they aren't all roos.
Sorry to hear about all the kid woes. But Heather, I'm sure your boys already came to the conclusion that your turner was too small and were only trying to make it fit.

OK,, I shoot for 40% humidity and 99.5 F..

I do not put the plugs in the LG or the Hova until after day 18..

those plugs are for humidity control,,, not temperature control..

after you put the plugs in, the humidity should go up ,, and the temperature should stay at 99.5 F.

sometime during incubation, just put the plugs in and see what happens.. in a short while you can take them out and there will be no ill side effects. then you will know what to expect when you put them in at day 18..........

hi all, got myself a bar building job today.. I am going to start next week.. I'm sure I will be reporting on the guy I will be working for,, He is a real interesting dude for sure.. likes to invent things and has patents..

the bar is almost all framed up, but has to be partly taken apart and leveled and straightened out before I can proceed ..

we got our first peahen egg.. wait !! Annie said it is a chicken egg.. narurally we don't agree, we will see who is right after she brings in another one identical to this one.. I candled it and cannot make out a single yolk, much less two of them..
we can agree that there are 2 guinea eggs today..
maybe I will be starting up the bator early this year..
I will start it up for just two peahen eggs, Let me warn you..

that turner can be put back together.. You just have to line up the correct holes.. then get some tiny hairpin type clips and put them into the holes in the cams..

You prolly have a hova turner and a LG bator.. or visa versa.. you can carefully force the turner down into the base.. You will displace some styrofoam in the process,, just be careful to not crack the turner.. use a knife to remove some of the tightness in a couple of the corners.. there is a flat "foot" on the turner that rubs..

Two weeks old..One cockerel..They are really nice size. They are perfect for the 10 day old's I have in my brooder. A bit shy, but, I think they should be OK tomorrow. They are finally quiet. It took them a while to figure out the Brinsea.

JIm a bar building job is better than a bar closing job... i think...

And unfortuantely the turner is toast. The plastic pegs that fit into holes on the outside supports are ALL broken off. There is not a single row with a peg at each end left. I dont know what in the world they thought they were doing...

Unk... great (and pervy) minds think a like. I had already found one of those ads this afternoon. I called the guy with the $85 craigslist ad. He's an 89 yr old gentleman getting out of the chicken business. He told me for years he was shipping fertile eggs and chicks for Strohmburgs. Just too old for all it now. He's only got one incubator left, with a turner. It is a Hovabator Genesis. That's what I was hoping for. He said he bought it in 2011, and had a total of 4 hatches with it. Said it held the temp just like it should automatically. He also knew the price point of it. So I know its the genesis. I told him I'd take it. But that means a road trip of about 1.5 hrs one way with 4 kids along.

I should dig out my bag pipe cd and make them listen to it ALL THE WAY THERE.

The 6 yr old missed school again. He has been sick all week. He won't be going tomorrow either, I don't think. He was having such terrible and painful stomach cramps yesterday that he was writhing and crying while on the toilet. All day long he was hitting the bathroom. But the terrible pains started later afternoon. It was so very sad. First vomitting for 14 hrs the day before, then the runs for another 12 hrs the next day.

He slept on the couch. I slept on the other couch, and my hubby slept on the floor. It was really bad. My hubby wanted to take him to the ER. ( had to put my foot down on that one.) The nurse told me the current virus that is hitting the schools hard has vomitting for 1-3 days. Then followed by the runs from 5 TO 14 DAYS!!! He's progressing along. No more liquids. But still having stomach pains from gas. He gets so scared whenever he has to fart... ( it's kinda funny, but sad at the same time)

Well that's the poop on what's happening here...

yah, BF4Me, I have a bag full of those trays with no pegs.. a weak point for sure.. some day I might figure out a way to drill a tiny hole and put a tiny bolt and nut where the peg was.. sometimes the whole crank breaks off if I remember correctly..

IDK if even JB Weld could fix it.. Ooooo !! don't say that out loud,,

don't break any fingers for that one.. it can happen to anyone,, HeII, I had a brand new one that was shipped to me broken like that..

that is the shitz when you get the diahria like that, for sure.. you are lucky he is old enough to use the stool by himself..
