Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good morning! Short reading today....everyone must be out enjoying the sun! I am waiting until it is just a tad warmer. I have to go and pick up DD21 at school in Madison today. Maybe she will want to stop at the pet store. I need some stuff for the finches and want to also get some more fish for the tank. I need some blue in there!

Weatherman said next week we will be getting into the 40s! Yeah! I sure hope it happens. I really need my truck to get out of the ice block it is in so I can get the tire fixed. I want my gates to work again too!

Yesterday I heard PEEPING in the milk house! ONe of Phoenix's GFs has a nest up in the ceiling...I checked, looks like 3 are hatched and 1 egg still waiting. SHe was trying to get them to jump down so I put some food and water up there in case she wants to wait for the other egg. I will try to get a picture today...she about ripped me some new eyeballs while I tried to get food to them! She is only a yearling hen too!

Dog class last night was odd...I think I mentioned that already...I guess I dont have any news--starting to repeat myself! LOL! Must mean I need to head out to find something new to talk about.
My dogs are all asleep around me...I really dont want to get up for another cuppa cause then they all jump up and wonder "what we are going to do now!?" Well, all except the beagle that is. She just opens one eye and goes back to sleep!

Guess I'll head out and get this show on the road! Have a great day Folks! TerriO

Micheller (is that right?) that is getting ducks? That pen set up looks nice for when they are just a bit older. For newly hatched ducklings I like to put them in a fishtank-like set up on paper towels. It looks like you have really deep shavings in there...they will eat them in the first few weeks and you may have trouble. Also they are VERY messy so you will want to change out the bedding every day or two...depending on how quickly they spill their water! LOL! HTH!

another brisk spring day in the north

the 15 day forecast looks like a good one for the syrup farmers

put the first 20 olive eggers in the hovabator I am hatching in, candled all 44 of these eggs had 5 clears, good from my perspective, the other 19 will go in on the 29th, thanks for getting me straight on setting the eggs for that stagger Jim

speaking of which, will you be expanding your hatchery when you get the laundry moved upstairs?

judge all of those names are made up by the hatcheries to be unique I think, they are all bred for the same reasons usually using almost all the same original genetics, not much different in any of them imo

off to the feed store and the hardware, a big day for me shaping up heh heh

good score finding those eggs Jim

I stopped by the feed store this morning to check out the tour de cluck and to get another flyer about twain's visit.

Looked at the chickies they brought in to sell. One brooder of the usual production reds, barred rocks, easter eggers labeled as auracannas. In a sepperate brooder they had this beautiful pile of little black and grey stripped chicks. SLWs I am hooked. I came home and told the wife that seeings as how we already have quail in the tank, it would be nice if the DD3 could pick out a chicky or two. Showed her what they grow up to look like and she said sure!

for 5 bucks we get to have a couple chicks to hold. Woot Woot.
