Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I love being home with my kiddos too! I feel very blessed!
I have fertile Cayuga duck eggs if anyone would be interested in hatching them! They are really fun little nuggets! We have 3 hens and a drake and don't want to let the 'momma' hen hatch another batch this year! I am tempted to stick some chicken eggs under here when she decides to sit! Not sure it would work

Me me me! Since I would be stupefied if my Cayugas actually hatched next week. Judge, we can commiserate together, though I probably will end up with a 0% hatch. Sigh. I'm having 2 bowls of ice cream tonight, yes I am.

Also must add that I love staying home with my kids too! Let's face it: if I can't keep this place clean while being here all the time, how would I manage to clean AND cook while working every week?? If DH had to prepare meals, we'd starve.

I tortured the chicks today so i had 2 ice cream sandwiches, does that count? I thought that going back to work would be hard but the kids are old enough to pull their weight, husband is pulling his and stepping up to the plate more everyday, and the house magically does the rest while everyone is sleeping.

OMG HI! I am tired...from reading 75 posts, driving about a zillion miles and dealing with the kids who slept the whole way home and then stayed up!
Had a blast today at JJ's...I hope the kids had fun too! The usual squabbles occurred but the kids were all dirty and smiling by the time we left so I think it was successful. I could barely get my car closed with all the stuff JJ sent along! His parents are GREAT and I went shopping with his Mom to the local Mennonite store. Much fun was had by all! (and I even got to talk to JJs wife too!)

SO I cant remember anything that I read (but at least I READ it!--sheesh BIgFam!) There were a few things I was going to comment on but most have already said what I was planning on saying anyhow!

I had a lady call me the other day (another Amy no less!) that is in the Appleton? area that is looking for show Quality birds for her girls to use in 4H. I told her to come and talk to us here....hopefully she will. I think some of you towards the Northern part of the state might be able to help?

OK--tired...need to hit the hay! Nighties!

If I let my house do it's thing I think it would set itself on fire! LOL! TO

Hi All!

JJ...Glad I didn't give you heart failure when you picked up the noodles! I am not human before noon! LOL I am sorry about the distance, when I took a quick look at the map, some how I thought you were on this side of Beloit! If not for it being an extra broke week I could have meet you in Delavan. I know on the map it may look like TO is closer, but there is no good straight shot from here to there.

Apyl... I had a hen with a dislocated hip. I did the best I could to "feel" moving it to the right location. I then taped to to her body with vet tape over night, the next day I released it from her chest but gave her a very small area to move for about a week. She did get better. With a duckling being so small I don't know if it would work.

Jim... If Pang has 8 little Pangs she must go through allot of chickens! Even though they mostly use meat in a meal I bet to feed that crew it still takes a chicken a meal. Did you say she brought duck eggs too?

kristi... Yea, sometimes it doesn't pay to work. My daughter gave up her job a few years ago because even with the raise they gave her, she wound up with about $20 bucks a week. I really wasn't worth giving up the time with the kids and having to cram housework and meals in. Now her BF lost his job so she went back to work and he's has the kids. Now he just needs to learn to cook!

Judge.... Hang in there! Don't give up on the babies too soon!

delish... congrats on the hatch!

Rabbits.... When I had rabbits we had a mix of metal and wood cages. The wood frame cages had the wire on the inside of the wood frame. We kept mostly the big bucks in those cages. We had the row of cages on the south wall of the house and put 4'x4' sheets of plywood on the ends in the winter as wind breaks and tarped the top in winter. If we were going to have real bad weather we could drop the tarp over the front of the cages so it was only open on the bottom. This area was naturally shaded in the summer and we took down the plywood so they would get a breeze.

We may have pinned down what's been ailing my son. It's looking more and more like gall bladder issues!

Well, a couple of things to do then off to bed.... Night All!

See, now I felt bad about showing up so early in the middle of your night, but I could not find any other time to fit the trip in yesterday

Visit with TeriO was great as always.YOU FORGOT YOUR MAPLE SYRUP! I'm sure you could have fit it in with the rest.

Those kids she watches are sure lovable.

The hatch just started. I really will not get cooking till Saturday. I set just a few early (3?4?)so I had a few brand new ones for my Saturday visitors. I hope by Easter Sunday I have a bator full.

Saw a Robin yesterday!!!! FINALLY!!! What a sweet sight and sound..... I cannot remember when they have arrived so late...

Not much else here, waiting for snow to melt.....

TTFN!

Thanks for the noodles. They do have bugs, but the chickens will dig that even more.

I did discover that just soaking them for an hour in warm water is enough to soften them up without using any energy up to boil them. Just a heads up.
