Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Amy11 sounds like you've gotten some good advice so far. Make sure your hen is warm enough. If you don't have any electrolytes you may want to give her some gatorade in a syringe. I agree do not let her get dehydrated and keep her very warm. You could give her some penicillin from fleet farm or farm and fleet. Have you been on the disease and cures or injuries threads here on byc?

Delish, sorry to hear about your FIL. At first I didn't know what FIL meant... I don't have one. New term forme to learn. Sending good thoughts your way !!

Also Delish, what are gold laced Orpingtons? Is that a purebred ? What color of Ameraucana's do you have?

Gosh I hate this, I am so tired again, (oh wait I know why,I took my ambien already) My eyes will be slamming shut any minute) so when you see this jldfjosgj490egtjasksddfaaadddddddddfdads'klgjdaL""'''''''''''''''''''''''jfeiapods[okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkfje4iwpoa'dkfgadsjaksfl'fndcv jjjjjjjjgiolsdkkkkkkkaslllllllllllllgjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjja'dsptriu944aaaakdmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnadrfhau[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[

you'll know that I fell asleep and my head hit the keyboard !!! I still need to catch up from the other day while I was at the spay/neuter clinic.

Oh VickyW here is the ad from Antigo CL from a person looking for a stud small dog !!!! Disgusting http://wausau.craigslist.org/wan/3735114189.html

Does anybody know about the swap that is held in Wausau on Mothers Day? Or where do you look online for swaps around the state? I used to have that site.

So is it settled. Who is sleeping next to who at the campsite? I should probably go look for a new pair of jammies and robe incase I get caught hopping to the bathroom in the middle of the night hey???? You woudn't want to see what I wear around here !!! LOL

Oh and don't forget to bring your pillows to the bash !!! Huge pillow fights !!!!! AND no synthetic pillow innards allowed you must use FEATHER PILLOWS if you want to participate !!!!
We only got 25 gallons of sap out of the trees today. Not bad I guess for the weather? This is our first year so anything is better then nothing I guess.

Ok, gotta see if I can stay awake long enough to catch up from two days ago.

Later... or ... tomorrow !

Hi All

David... cute chicks! You got one cute little chubs there!

Quote:from CC
Yep, some us decrepit ones need to "plug in" our machines so we last to the weekend! Not to mention the frequent trips to facilities!

Colton.... congrats on the peeps!

zeke... wow, sorry about your birds.... that's a big hit all at once!
hugs.gif
Sure hope you find them safe. I have an EE and a Mystery Roo you could have!

Delish... Hope things turn around for your FIL so you can both get some rest.

Judge... Yes, too soon for the babies to mix. The look but don't touch is very good. Remember even wen they are big, there will be some scuffles and maybe blood for a few weeks. You got to let them work it out but not 'till they can defend or run! Colt and the little roo will work it out too, he's have to learn his place tough.

Poor Girls hated the rain! They kept trying to come out and they would get rained on and ran back in! The turkeys stayed out and rinsed off a bit.... they needed it! The guineas were in and out of the rain too. I found some "lost" eggs. They had a nest by the straw and some rolled off the nest and under some straw! Found about 18 of 'em! I think I fixed the problem.

That's it.... Night All!

Morning everyone

All rain and no ice!!!!

Way to go Colton

Gee, I hope I will be able to at least stop by the Bash this spring. Would love to meet all of you f2f. Not sure yet. Overnight is probably a complete no.

Thanks for the link Frenchie, I think. GGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and let me know if you find any of that "green stuff"! Not sure I remember what it even looks like, sigh. Those "southern" people are such torturers.

My babies are growing up

2 weeks old on Tues. and they all slept on their little roost together last night. So cute.

Thought I would share this.

Good morning..

Yes the Gold laced are pure bred..this line I have here came from GFF. Imported from England. I am getting another pair from Nellie probably soon.
I have black and blue Ameracuana's from Smith. Eventually I might add the blue wheaton if these do well at the shows. I have a really pretty blue pullet right now. She is just cute as can be.

These are the Gold Laced compared to older chicks.
Huge birds

The blue ameracauna..she is just cute cute. Nice slate legs, beard and muffs.

Good morning everyone . Not a whole lot going on here. Its day 21 for the chick eggs in the incubator. Out of 12 only 3 looked like something may be in them when I went into lock down. But one egg was brown and one was blue so couldnt see to good in those. The one white egg looked like it was shaking yestarday, but it could have been the kids running thru the house lol. I wont be surprised if they dont hatch. My cochin rooster has a big butt so I dont he'se even doing anygood. On the positive side 12 out of 13 duck eggs are fertile and kicking. :)
One of my ducklings I hatched started quacking :) so looks like another girl. The other two are still sqeeky. The rest of the chicks, ducks, geese, and turkey babies are all growing and doing great. I'll be picking up some colored zip ties so I can mark my 11 Barred rocks, so I can keep them straight. Plus my youngest DD wants one to be hers.
Hmm well thats about it. I hope everyone has a good day.

Good luck on the chicks Colton :)

Zeke. ~~ so sorry for your loss!! Hopefully there will be some clue as to what happened!

Colton~~ Good job on the hatch!

Not much new here. Still cold... still rain/snowy... Chicks are growing, getting little tiny tail feathers now. As if waiting for them to arrive didn't drive me nutts, now I can hardly wait to see if they are boys or girls!!! My 3 year old says they are all "dirls"... boy that would be nice LOL ;-)

Zeke...sorry about the loss..
Deli- that Blue girl looks super sweet.

Not much new...meeting heather at lunch to pick up the tiny silkie. Will put with my polish and hope they will be ok together. The polish are so tiny still for three weeks old. My EE does not seem to like the black polish, but does the white polish... go figure... it is a racist EE??? it is the only chicken it picks on( we have 4 blacks, 3 whites and 2 browns in general)
Anyway... putting rummage stuff together to take to my friends in Waunakee- they do their big sale mothers day weekend. Then whatever is left comes back to my house for a sale in June.
Never ending stuff that needs to go and I make money to then go rummaging with!
still waiting to hear about the job front.... hubby wants me to be mad and hate my current employer... it is not in me. I GET why they are letting me go and some companies just dont want to get a split role for a manager position. I get it...dont love it, but get it.
sigh

Think I saw one of my birds gimping around yesterday... but it was pouring and it was so muddy, couldnt get near her. Will try to check it out today. She was fine on Tuesday when we let the girls out to walk around... hope she is ok. She is one of the more skittish birds in the coop(dont have many that wont be held, but she is a blue egg layer and gets repreive).

Good morning--yeah for the chicks Colton! IT is good that you go away to school...that way you arent "tortured" watching them hatch (and wanting to help "just a little!")

Sorry about your birds Zeke! Weird that there isnt a clue though...how visible are they from the road? Also how tame? I dont think I would have to worry about the tameness factor here. Actually, if you dont step in the right places you get sucked down into the deep mud...I would probably capture the crook!

The birds are looking nice Deli! My blue Ams never look that filled out at that age. Heck, they are hardly filled out as adults! I like the egg color they have and the friendliness of the birds but they sure arent much to look at! I am breeding them with my cuckoo Marans this year...OEs hopefully!

Today is the day I need to load up my car with my scrapping stuff....and it is o=pouring rain of course!
he.gif
Definitely not a good day for moving papercrafts in and out! I am kind of excited to do some pages of the kids though...been a long time since I did kid pages. I think I will make copies of the originals and put them in a book for their family. Finally I might be able to use up some of my leftover kid stuff! I am really looking forward to connecting with my friends again! Only see them 3xyear for these weekends. And we dont talk every day like we do here!

I guess I should get moving...I have to update the chore list a bit. I sure wish I had a person here that wouldnt MIND doing the chores while I was gone. The worst part is that I have been collecting hatching eggs for sale and now none will get collected for 4 days or so! That really messes up the layers too...I might just drive home and get them! (so much for an uninterrupted vacation!)
The only one I really get is at Chickenstock...(thanks Carol!) but that really doesnt count cause DH is there too!

Guess I better get started...I am hoping to head out at noon....yeah, maybe...

Congrats on the ducks! Those are hard to hatch! Nothing you can do about fertility.
