Yipeeeee!

My hubs had me a bit scared earlier that I lost my two newbies. He stopped in to lock up the coop on his way home from work and he called me in a bit of a panic to let me know two of the girls were missing (the two that I just introduced to the flock yesterday). I had just thrown all of my jeans into the washer and I was sitting in a pair of shorts when he called so I asked him if he called them and looked everywhere as I REALLY didn't want to go looking for chickens in the cold rain in my shorts. He assured me he called them repeatedly and looked absolutely everywhere and they were just not there. So, I put on the barn boots and a jacket and went over to see if I could find them. (I'm glad no one got a picture of that!) I went behind the barn and called them and the soaking wet duo came right out to greet me. Needless to say, I'm not going to enter the hubs into any chicken calling contest any time soon. I'm also going to send him to the eye doctor for some new glasses!

Hi ALL!

Delish.... Very pretty girls! That little blue Ameraucana looks like my little "Tumbles" the one who's wry neck I healed. She never got as big as the others but because I spent so much time with her she got real sweet.

Apyl...Hope a few more hatch for you!

cuties.... thanks for the pics of your cuties! Chores are good! Spoiled kids that don't earn anything are bad! BTW... Jim was getting his computer fixed this week.... at least that was the plan.

LMill... beautiful horses!

BBP...You have to show us that cute chick in a few weeks at that "awkward" stage! LOL Hope you get your banking stuff taken care of. Got to love those "overdraft fees" where they take more of what you didn't have enough of to begin with!

Colton... Great work on the chicks!

bl4.... sorry about your bad day.

Glad the "lost" hens were found! I thought I lost one yesterday.... she finally came in at close up time soaking wet! She must have gone out between showers then got caught when it stared again and held up as long as she could somewhere.

Well, I have over a dozen turkey eggs saved. Now, do I hatch or not? The problem is I don't have a place away from the chickens to raise them and I'm not sure If I could get something built in time. I'm also not sure how fertile they are either.

Had a good news scare. I was in the kitchen and noticed I hadn't heard the sump pump running for a while. Thought "O cr@p it burned out!" Peeked in the crawl space and it was just fine! It's been raining so much it was going almost all the time. Guess this little break in the rain let it catch up.

OK, must sleep... shopping day tomorrow... Night All!

My poor sump pump..the basement is suffering and it can't keep up. I have no idea what it is going to look like in a week if the rain does not let up a bit. It is snowing a few flakes and not raining at the moment. It is supposed to hold off till noon now. I have much to do. People are coming for chicks I hope today and tomorrow. I am selling my blue silkie pullet. I will probably regret it later. Male silkies help with baby's. I have a male silkie in with two groups of chicks and they each help to keep them warm. It is adorable.

Umm, All my chickens LOVE rain. I gues I could have warned you. Sorry.

THE VIEW OUT MY KITCHEN WINDOW A COUPLE MINUTES AGO. MY "LADIES" ARE NOT AMUSED.

My little ladies are going thru the "terrible 2's" (2 wks that is) and are acting like crazy terydactyles spooking and trying to fly at any excuse. May have to get them out into a "playpen" in the kitchen to let them stretch. That should be very entertaining. Better lock up the cat and the puppy!!!

Hey any fellow horse owners. I am going to be placing an order at Jeffers for some equimax dewormer $10 a tube and if anyone would want me to add to the order I could if you don't mind waiting till the bash to get it. Just let me know and then you can paypal me the money when I place the order (cause I wasn't born rich, I was born beautiful)

Just let me know. Because you have to spend $60 to get free shipping (which I will be doing for my own order by the way) I just thought if anyone wanted something and didn't have $60 they needed to spend I would be more then happy (just cause I'm a nice person, even though some of you many not think that) ad it to my order.

Well, even you chicken people might want or need something. Just let me know by midnight. I need to get dewormers and vaccines. I might shop around for the vaccines yet. I can always put in two orders one for the dewormers and the vaccines later.

By the way, what are all you guys doing for vaccines these days? My farrier scared the heck out of me. He lost a young horse a few years ago to not West Nile virus but to one of the other mosquito born illness's. He had just bought the foal so he thinks the foal was exposed to it before he brought it home. But even still, scary stuff.

All of my horses have been vaccinated within the past few years for west nile except for one of my ponies and the two new donkeys I brought home last fall.

It sure adds up getting them all vaccinated. Especially for the ones that will need two vaccines to get them up to par.

I'll be looking for some short dated vaccines but they usually sell out very fast.

Oh and one more thing, then I have to get ready to go to town with ET.

What hatchery would you recommend and why ? My niece will be ordering within the next month or so as well as my neighbor. So if you all want to share your experiences let me know.

Oh and anyone know anything about the crested ducks. It says on one of the hatchery websites that it is genetic . So care to share if you know anything more about the genetics on crested ducks and geese? Are they more fragile then non crested? Do they breed true crested when you breed them crested to crested ?

Ok gotta go for now !!! Later
my personal recommendation would be to NOT use Sunnyside Hatchery. Very bad experience with them this spring. Absolutely ZERO customer support (didn't even bother to respond) when contacted about 50% loss within hours on sexlinks.
