We've been through times like this, yes very stressful. Sending positive thoughts your wayDH has been spending the night at the hospital..my turn is tomorrow night. FIL does not communicate well and most do not understand him, so someone needs to spend the night. DH is stressed out.
Having to leave for school is a good distraction, but makes for a long day a school - good job on the first hatchGood Morning all, chick count is up to 4, 3 more pipped. Hoping for more when I'm at school!!!
Looks like a great set up, would love to see pic w/out the "white crap" sure hope it is gone for you soon. My girls hated the white stuff too, but no problems with the mud and rain . . . the phrase "madder than a wet hen" does not apply since the rain brings on good worm hunting. They're just too stupid to pick the worm and quietly eat it. Gotta brag about it, then end up being chased by the rest, eventually I think they all end up with a piece of it
THE VIEW OUT MY KITCHEN WINDOW A COUPLE MINUTES AGO. MY "LADIES" ARE NOT AMUSED.![]()
My little ladies are going thru the "terrible 2's" (2 wks that is) and are acting like crazy terydactyles spooking and trying to fly at any excuse. May have to get them out into a "playpen" in the kitchen to let them stretch. That should be very entertaining. Better lock up the cat and the puppy!!!
Are you registered with the state as a poultry owner? That is the first inconveinence , I mean step. Bring your checkbook your gonna need it $40.00 minimum.
I beleive that's what they said at the pullorum testing class last weekend. no registration , no NPIPDoes a person have to register with the state as a poultry owner? Or is that just when you are hatching and selling the chicks?

My oldest hen (Big Momma) dropped dead yesterday. She was an australorp that the neighbors gave us because she was broody and we wanted to hatch some eggs. She was at least 4 years old then and we kept her around for 3 years she was a great flock cop. She kept the peace. I think she started to fade a couple weeks ago because that is when the throat pecking started on the cochins and now my olive egger. I wunder who will take over now? My oldest is only a year and a half.
