I think this kind of wiping thing is kind of common at the bash

Quote: BEER seems to be a common lure when trying to get help..... the trick is to only use a small amount for bait,, and bring out the cooler when the job is done so as to encourage further volentering

JJ, I could buy Annie new curtain rods, but what is the challenge in that ?
If you go to jail for stealing from the casino, you will not get out in time to get even with that turkey.

Sushi soap????? So no matter how many times you wash, your hands just smell more like raw fish?

eeeeeeewe

LOL! I just call it that! My BIL likes sushi so I made him a batch of soap. I used algae to color it light green, I added rice flour and poppy seeds, and I scented it with Lemongrass and Ginger. It was really nice stuff!

hi everyone-
Not much new here-
MIL is going crazy because the goats and chickens are messing up her flower beds. grrr. Don't really know how to solve the chicken problem. I have a temporary solution for the goats, but I really enjoy seeing the girls free range, and as it is now there is not enough room to lock them up in the run.
The ducklings are doing so great. The chickens don't bother them at all. I am surprised to see that the runner ducklings are turning sort of tan? I thought they were going to be white, but as I was looking at images on google I see that they come in a lot of colors. That's ok- I don't mind. I think that the bigger of the two roens is a female, but I can't tell with the little runt. It is at least half the size of the others.
We have wood ducks that like to roost in our trees. Really neat. I wonder how they do that with duck feet? ANyone have any knowledge of wood ducks?
My EE pullet has turned out so pretty. I love watching her. The two 8 wk olds on the porch are both girls I think. One a brown EE with muffs, and a barred rock cross that is all black. So- not that it really matters but I like to know these things- if a chick is part Ameraucana is it automatically an EE, or only if it lays colored eggs. Do they all have muffs? Is that barred rock considered a sex link or an EE (same daddy) or just a regular mutt?
Cabinet shopping was great. Really overwhelming though. SO many details and sooo much money. It can really add up depending on the options you choose. Did you all know that custom cabinets are not made (typically, unless you pay a huge upcharge) of all wood? I had no idea. They are veneers over particle board, or for another upcharge, plywood! Seems so sad that I am getting rid of my solid wood cabinets for not solid wood. They just won't fit in the new space...
I got picked up for speeding today- 72 in a 55. Just got a warning though thank goodness
But the worst news of the day was that my dog bit my friend today. Didn't puncture the skin though... sigh. He will be chained up from now on. I know he will hate it but we can't take the chance. The kids hate the idea but I told them what the other option was and then they settled down a bit.
My grammy is having heart surgery in Wausau tomorrow. Only place in this part of the country that does this type. I think she is the 26th one only. She is 89 with so much life in her yet. Saying an extra prayer for her tonight. My sister and mom and aunt are staying with her in a hotel in wausau so she is close by for tomorrow. I wish I could have went and stopped in to see Jim.
Good night all!

Quote: aahhhh, beer ! right on .. prolly could lure a few extra hands with that approach ..

I seldom sell adult guineas.. only if I have extra roosters.. I do sell a lot of baby guineas..
last year was not a good year, but in the 3 years before that I sold about 300 per year..

PM me about getting some BO chicks .. I am raising 20 of them for one guy, but the rest are not spoken for, yet..

I have a single guinea trying to hatch right now. I don't know why I'm so bad at hatching these things. I've been trying since March on and off and this is only the second one to pip.
Picture time!

Dark Gray dorking with her project orp chick

The ADORABLE silkie/bantam cochin/ black orpington rooster that I tried to give away last fall and nobody wanted him. I will keep him forever. He really accepts his place in the pecking order so he can stay.

White cochin cockerel up for grabs.

My donation to the raffle. Oh wait, I don't have a trailer to haul the beast.
Your dorking reminds me of my girl Sally (in the back) Well- her head does anyway!

Good evening! I can hardly believe that I am on here...I thought my 'puter was fried from that SHerry incisent. DD told me I should have shut it off right away...of course I didnt cause I wanted to go out and feed and them=n keep reading,,,so when I got in from that my touchpad did not work at all! I couldnt move around on the screen and do anything; NOt even see if thar REALLY long post with the pics went through! I was so frustrated to say the least! NOt only about spilling but that I lost my whole post. NOw I see that it did work...I just couldnt get to it. All day I kept thinking of things I wanted to say to you guys...or stuff I needed to look up...or just wanting to take a break from working out in the yard--but I knew I couldnt. THen tonight the kids tild me that all I had to do was hook up a mouse and it should work! I was so glad...of course I couldnt find one around the house at all (at least one without a tail!) SO I fugured I would head to St Vinnie's inthe morning and get one...but decided to try this once more in case it "fixed" itself...and lo and behold, it did!

(yes I am very happy)

JJ I am so sorry that you are not attending the bash...I think between you and Zeke and Dan and Jim you all might be a force to recon with!

I had a turkey hatch today! My neighbor (the one that sent the rabbits to the bash in Waupaca) brought over several dozen as you may recall. Well I had to toss about half because they were non fertile but today I have one and there is another nearly Zipped! NOthing on the pheasants yet though.

OK--I am drinking Lime water tonite and am getting so tired that I need to head to bed...I have to stop working so hard outside all day I guess!
HEading to bed....(before I spill again) TerriO

Oh Zeke, I am so sorry to hear about your weasel attacks.

That must have been devastating. At least you got him.

peafowl is used by hoity toidy people like CC to describe both males and females of the peacock family.. peacock can mean either the male of the family OR describe the flock.. either is correct.. I like to use peacock because I am lazy..
.......jiminwiscgoingtolurkandplaysolitaire......
You just like saying the word that rhymes with flock..........

Congrats on the chicken booth, Ang, and on the 22, Cind!

BL, I still vote for the ricola scented one. Or something with bug repelling qualities? Lemongrass, eucalyptus, thyme? What were the kitchen spice bars?

I got a ton of stuff done outside yesterday too. The weather was gorgeous! DH had finished modifying the cage we got from his BIL for the rabbit, Shadow, aka Brunswick.
roll.png
So I got it all ready & moved him into his new digs. I really think he likes not having to dodge the chicken crap anymore.

I also got the inside critter cages outside for a thorough scrubbing down. One became the new brooder for the lavs. They were very quickly outgrowing their other brooder. That cage is being vacated by Jasmine bunny, Shadow's sweetheart. She has been steadily declining in her ability to get around anymore, so it is time. I'm taking her in tomorrow.

NOT going to be a good day. Sorry to be such a bummer. I hope everyone got to enjoy the day. Sweet dreams, all!
