Actually... I'm a little afraid I might not make it to the bash. I have babysitter issues. I was going to leave Halden at home. I don't want to chase the autistic child around the whole night/ and Sat and not be able to talk to people again. I need a babysitter for Tues because I had to switch to get Sat off. Well I forgoti need a babysitter for fri and sat because of the bash. Then I still need a babysitterforsunday and Monday for my regular schedule. That's somebody babysitting 4 days in a row. Of course my MIL is going to be gone and unavailable until Mon. It not fair to my Dad to have to babysit Sunday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. So I don't know if I can't come...

Congrats on the porcelain orp BBP. That is an achievement for sure!

My basement reeks!!! I really need to clean out the chicken room!!! The smell and dust is getting on my nerves now. It been like 2 months with chicks down there.

I have my Icelandic broody right now. I gave her a couple of turkey eggs to sit on. Out of 6 eggs, 4 were cracked. One of those was beyond saving. The other 3 I dripped wax on. I gave a couple of those to her. If they don't hatch, it's ok. But will a broody chicken momma sit for that extra week on turkey eggs? Just curious.

Ok folks... Rum and coke is making the eyes heavy. But before I go, it looks like I have 2 chocolate orp Roos And 2 pullets. Nice balance!
Pictures of the chocolates please

I don't think chickens can count very well. For sure the one's that make grass nests to lay in can't count because I've been taking their daily egg for 2 weeks. I've tried breaking up a broody for a week or more before finally giving in and letting her hatch, so that would be over the 3 weeks too. They probably can hear the chicks inside the eggs. I sure hope you can make it to the Bash!!

Heather..I hope you make it also..I will volunteer to watch Halden for a few hours and do the chasing if that helps. I have autistic grandchildren. It can be frustrating and wonderful every second. I am not the best babysitter or nanny, I am a grandma and pretty much let them have fun and try to keep them from breaking bones. I have been known to show them how to make mud pies, how to pack a water balloon with muddy water, and its fun to find and identify bugs and creepy crawlies and scare moms.

Oh wow- I haven't checked in since Wed. night (anyone notice? lol) and there are 100 posts!
Spent Wed. night and all day yesterday sick as &$%^. Ugh- I don't think I have every thrown up so many times. Actually I think I was hallucinating. Feeling much better today though, and got a few things done around the house. Hopefully tomorrow will be even better.

Found one of my girls dead today. No idea why.
How do you break a broody? She is so set on sitting on eggs, and I don't know what to do about it.
Wish I had more energy to comment, maybe tomorrow.
Good night all!

Indeed! Bring Halden with! We will all help! "It takes a village to raise a child" we are all here to look out for each other and to spend time with each other. That's what family is all about!

HI ALL!

Jim... Hope you saved your blossoms! Sounds like a great start on the greenhouse.

vicki... cute pics!

Psyco....unless you chicks are looking weak, I think they will be fine.

GR&RW... They are due this weekend, I'll let you know when they hatch. I'm going to ask $10 ea. to you good people. Hatcheries are asking $10- 15 and you have to order a bunch and pay for shipping. I do want to keep a couple at least for a few weeks.

BBP.... Congrats on the chick!

BigFam....Hope you can make the bash!

judge... Sorry about your hen.

Well, 2 more eggs hatched! The one she had been pecking I pulled. Full term chick inside dead. Guess she tried to save it. The membrane was just too tough I guess. I left one more egg in there but I don't think it will hatch. 2 more broodys should hatch by Bash time. At least one turkey should hatch hers. The one in the coop has 3 turkey eggs and 4 hen eggs

Well, my youngest and his friend decided to pick up a hobby my son learned a couple of years ago.... first attempt on his own.... first try for his friend......

Fire Spinning!

He has a friend that learned it and when he moved to Hawaii got a job with a group doing it.
Yes, they bonked themselves a couple of times and Jon got some stray hair singed, but no burns! Yes, the hose was at the ready!
Our new neighbors are getting married today, (Sat) and they are having an after party at the house. They asked if Jon and his friend wanted to come over and do some spinning. She learned ow too and has some semi-pro gear.

Night All!
