Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Race Day to everyone...this Spring planting is a real chore around here. Honest days work days in a row..becomes a chore in my last eyes! Prolly a few more to overcome yet, but the harvest is worth the stress of seeding.
Why am I whinning..cause I can.

The bash is closing in, and hope everyone has a safe trip...back later...the race is on.

If you have more than one incubator and can use one strictly has a hatcher a staggered hatch works. That's how I do it.

You lost me. I don't have any yet, but I guess that'd be my purpose as to not having multiple ones. I've heard some people say NOT to open the baters and some say they go in & out of there and don't have a problem. So IDK which is right. Can you go in or are you not supposed to open it? And what do you mean by "use one strictly as a hatcher"? Use 1 as a hatcher and 1 as a what? What else would I use it for except to hatch eggs? I'm confused.

If you have eggs in lockdown you can't have the turner going and you shouldn't open it to hand turn. So you move the eggs to the hatcher that need to go into lockdown.
And the humidity has to be higher at lockdown ( last 3 days of incubation.) The first 18 days (for chicken eggs) they are in an incubator and turning with low humidity. The last 3 days turning stops and the humidity needs to be bumped up (what we call lockdown). If you try to do staggered hatches in one bator you will mess up the eggs that aren't ready to hatch.

Yesterday and today DH rented a mini excavator for a bunch of tasks around the property, including not one, but 2 little duck ponds for me! We put one near the chicken coops, about 15' across and 4' deep. Then another about half that size on the other side of our lot near the pond, for a future orchard/waterfowl paddock area. He and his dad spent about 10 hours pulling stumps in the woods. Pretty beat here, and tomorrow I want to get most of the garden in. No rest for the weary, eh?

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY and many many THANKS TO OUR VETERANS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning! Too many pages to catch up on. AGAIN! Judge a fence is the only answer. Chickens will destroy a garden. Turns out so will frost. Have to stop on the way home from fishin today and pick up some more maters and peppers. Broc survived though. That's right I said fishin.

The wood shed has 30 face cord in it and the drains are all draining in the house. Many things yet to do but we're goin fishin dang it! Was eyeballing the rubybarbie yesterday, going to be ready soon. Have a hen that's laying a thin shell, getting a broken one just about every day. Have been giving them oyster shell and feeding the egg shells back to them. IDK. Need to get some gas in the Jeep get chores done then hit the water. Fish on!

I got her off the nest long enough to get a good look. Only 3 eggs left out of 12 and one was broken! No way am I getting poults before the bash. I think the 3rd hen went broody so I may shove some eggs under her.

Incase I don't stop by later.... Night All!

Good Cloudy Morning! Thanks Zeke for fishin wishin. The fish didn't bother us much. It was the all too familiar you should have been here 2 weeks ago scenario. But a nickle was added to my tackle box. For those of you who are unfamiliar with my fishin rules it's first fish gets a nickle. It was nice to get away and just sit and fish though. And the 20hp Merc starts and runs like a charm. Really pushes the 14 footer down the lake. Only saw one other fish caught out of several boats on the water. So it wasn't that we were holding our lips wrong. Jim very impressive project, looks nice! Plenty of bees here the crab trees were hummin. BBP sorry to hear of your loss and hawk issues. Geez TO what are you trying to do? Are you going for a shot at the title? Don't think Jim will relinquish the Tutu. Have a hen that stuck to the nest yesterday will see in a little while if she's still there. Might just have a broody.

If the grass dries I'll get it mowed today plus want to get the new plants in. And a million other things.

Good Memorial Day to everyone! We are off to the local ceremony in a few minutes, then time for a good scrubbing of the house! Nothing like going on vacation and coming back to a dirty house!

I am going to make the bug-be-gone soap today, it will not be ready for use for a few weeks so just keep that in mind (and don't forget it in a closet someplace.....).

One more week!!!!!
