I am going to post at the end of each page.. I tend to forget otherwise..

Do not be too quick to judge the seller for diseased birds.. At his place, his birds probably were not sick.. they might have been immune to whatever they brought to you.. Your birds going to another place could cause the same problem for somebody else.. it happens.. did his birds look sick to you when you bought them ? I am guessing , "no", or else you wouldn't have bought them..

My advice would be to not buy birds at swaps, sanctioned or otherwise,, If you do, you are buying at your own risk..

unsanctioned swaps are difficult enough to find.. now don't go and cause a stink and have all of them shut down..

I have had my best luck at non sanctioned swaps, btw..

first let me say this, as I have several times in the past,, most incubator problems are operator caused.. sorry Kim,, I do not remember ever recommending not buying a Brinsea.. I might have stated that for what you get they seem to be overpriced..

I have never before heard a Brinsea owner complain that theirs was no good..

I believe that a few people on here have them..

my offer still stands.. anybody with a styro, or a cabinet, and now a Brinsea, who is dis-satisfied with it,, I will take it off your hands.. as long as you are going to throw it away, anyway..

Kim, bite the bullet, and cull those sickly and crippled birds.. as a favor to them and yourself..

I will bbl,, I want to go take a couple of pikitures...

pepper plants inside of greenhouse..

Dora was not good today.. she finally perked up about 3PM and ate, drank and went outside to do her duty..

have chicks and keets hatching today.. my chicks,,, Marlene's keets..

Put a goose egg into the bator.. the goose quit her nest.. candled egg, egg looks OK, but time will tell..

One truss to put up yet.. ran out of construction screws.. for small jobs like this, I don't like to use nails..

as always, click on pictures for a larger , clearer view..

Im sorry jvls1942 if you feel this is not as important as I do in getting to the bottom of. As for me infecting anyone, I would never sell at a swap nor now purchase from one. If they can't be run according to the state laws to protect people, then they shouldn't be running them. And I won't believe that they didn't know they were infected.

It's possible to still follow the rules and have disease brought into a swap. Birds only need to be pollorum-typhoid clean. This is why I don't show my birds anymore.
But maybe you're referring to them not keeping proper track of their vendors when you say they weren't following the rules. I do think its important to contact the seller and let them know what is going on. They may not realize that they have a repiratory disease in their flock. Or maybe they don't care, in which case it should be made known to others who this person is so that they can be avoided when looking to purchase chicks.

BTW - my daughter was married in the chapel at the red barn. Is it still there???

The Red Mill and Chapel are still there and still open. I've heard a rumor that a local businessperson wants to buy it and refurbish it. It would be nice to see the water wheel rebuilt!
