It's possible to still follow the rules and have disease brought into a swap. Birds only need to be pollorum-typhoid clean. This is why I don't show my birds anymore.
But maybe you're referring to them not keeping proper track of their vendors.

Where does one find the rules for a swap? Just curious.

I got my information from the State for control of infectious diseases. I have the number and a site that lists certified people but not on me at the moment if you want that information. When I called the department for Premise Id they explained it to me.

I assume they are the same as any county fair.
Turkeys have to test negative for MG
Other birds have to be from a NPIP flock, a WI tested or associated flock or each sexually mature individual has to test negative for Pollorum-typhoid within 90 days of the event.

I purchased the crazy silkie /Cochin rooster and another 2 years ago and last year lavender roo (thinks he's a hen) and 2 white Cochin banties(btw are both hens not yet laying) friend bought other lavender roo.

Oh yes, I remember you. I still have a rooster and hen out of that silkie/cochin rooster. He was a cute chicken. So, if your results come back positive for MG are you going to have a closed flock or kill them all and start over?
I don't think I could cull my entire flock, especially my Iowa Blue rooster. I'd have to let them live out their lives (which, around here ends up being an average of 2 yrs because of predators) and when the last one dies disinfect and let everything sit empty for months. But I've found I spend a ton of money to breed chickens and don't make much on it, so a closed flock might be a good thing for me.

Im sorry jvls1942 if you feel this is not as important as I do in getting to the bottom of. As for me infecting anyone, I would never sell at a swap nor now purchase from one. If they can't be run according to the state laws to protect people, then they shouldn't be running them. And I won't believe that they didn't know they were infected.

i can understand your frustration, but I did not do it to you.. most of us have had similar situations.. most of us understand that sometimes things like this happen..

Don't let Jim him scare you away from the Cheeseheads page. You are afraid for your birds and doing what you think is right and reacting in a way that a lot of people probably would. If you want to pursue finding the seller to warn them IF the test comes back positive for a contagious disease I think that is responsible of you. As a breeder I would want to know if something like this happened so I could get my birds tested and not spread any more disease. If they already know they have it, they need to know that you are aware of them selling sick birds.
