Where were you keeping your baby geese so they could run away? I am confused as to why baby geese would be roaming around unsupervised or uncontained.......

I have a soft spot for geese, I had an imprinted one when I was a kid.

They were both imprinted. They had a covered pen I kept them in while at work. We took them swimming in the river, then while I fed the chickens they stayed out and hung out with the ducks. We had the same routine every day. I went into the house for a while and when I came out they were nowhere to be found. I know I should have locked them up right away. But the one would stress so bad he had rubbed all the down off of his face from sticking it through the bars of his pen. I was just trying to prevent him from hurting himself further. But I guess I killed him instead.

I am sad for you. But I feel it is best to let them have some time out. Better than being all locked up. We ocassionally loose a bird to a pred. But I feel they have a good life.

Sorry BBP, maybe they will turn up yet. I just had to cull one of the ScovyX babies, found it on the beach with its side torn up. The mama flew out of the garden today and the babies must have squeezed out under the gate, they were all in the pond this morn. I really hope we don't have a snapper taking up summer residence in there.

Wanted to let you folks know that my friend Julie who came to the Bash with me was just diagnosed with breast cancer last week. She is one tough cookie and has a kick butt attitude about it, but she and her fam could use your prayers. There might be some fundraising events as the year goes on, I will post them as they are planned. One of her other friends just made a Facebook support page for her, called Julie's Jugs Fighters, so those of us on FB can drop notes of encouragement.

But remember, Jim's shaft had some problems. Needed some shimming. Was rusty from misuse and some other tragic malady. I think he lubed it up and it's working ok, but not much life left in it???

I believe it was bent? Jim, care to refresh our memories? Inquiring minds, ya know.

You candled?! Cheater... Mine are under broodies, so I was gonna let them ride for quite some time before looking.

Btw... It looks like Riga has 2 black orps for babies. The blue died. :-(

Also I found my lavender rumpless chick stuck between a barn door and a board where it died. Gosh darn it, he was very cool looking. In case CC was trying to keep track, this makes me lavender-less again.

I gave you 3 lavender eggs like you wanted. But knowing your hatch rate, I guess I should have made it a full dozen.............

Put those chicks somewhere safe, girl! Especially your Hershey babies when they hatch.

Del, out of the 3 Hershey babies I got, one is light brown & black, one is black with dark brown lacing and one is black. I hope your 3 all hatch!
