Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

RELAPSE and then some! My "bug" turned into a sinus infection, asthma, and pneumonia. A triple threat! The hubs is watching the store while I medicate, stick close to the A/C, drink lots of fluids and rest. I'm not sure about tomorrow and right now I think I'm not going to worry about it too much.

Everything else is good. The deer haven't made it back inside the garden and I have lots of little green tomatoes and 1"-2" squash popping out. Now if it will just rain a bit every night...

My silly chickaroos stay in the backyard until around 5pm and then, one-by-one, they fly up to the top of the gate and make their way back to the coop. Once in awhile I have a panicked straggler or two who have apparently forgotten how to make their escape.

Hope you and your critters are all well! I'm taking a break from just about everything except for the above. * Insert coughing frowny guy here*

Now I am taking a break...got thesoaker hose on my front rock garde. Waiting agian for the veggie garden to shade down so I can work out there. Too hot in the sun right now for sure! I also am waiting for Cuties gang to descend...they should be here around 5 or so I think. She is getting some call ducks and Muskovys for her sister!

Another person taken in by poultry! I have caught up one of the M's and the yellow ones keep escaping me...I keep telling them that they will have the cushy life but they arent taking the bait!

Guess what? I think I have found a good guinea Mama! She still has the 6 after 3 days? maybe 4? I really cant believe it myself. They are so notorious for running off in the grass and the babies are left behind. It was very cute today; I took out some mealworms to toss to them and she made the click noise and all the babies FLEW to where she was pointing! Needless to say they loved the mealies! Then I gave the remaining tiny ones to the birds in the brooder...it took so long for them to actually taste them! Then they were gone. I bet the nest time they see that little dish it wont take so long!

Dan and Jim you guys are going to get yourselves in trouble! I think you oughta shut your traps before BigFam opens up her famous can of whoopa$$ on you!
I would like to see some picks of your strung up tomatoes though, both of you. I know Dan posted some last year...I was thinking about a set up for my garden to try that. I wonder if the weather would make them fall down though?

Colton--I was going by your origional post where you said he hadnt eaten in 2 days. Look at a pic and try my method...you might have some luck. If you get it back in you might have to hobble him for a few days so the muscles can reform around the joint and the tendons can tighten. If you want to mess with it look up "chicken chair" on BYC. You can make that for him to recover in. Again--good luck!
[C'mon guys...he's a kid! He has nothing but time on his hands right?]

Hey Jim...in a few weeks you should take a road trip here...my pear trees are loaded and I have several elms that need cutting down....then we could head on down to Cind's for a green goop lesson!

Like usual--there seems to be something else...I guess it was just that I needed to call the mill...I hate that they arent open on Saturdays...but at least you can phone in an order and they will set it out for you.

Oh yeah--Deli, do you and Joe sit on the couch and pretend that is your view out the window? Wouldnt that be nice?

OK break is over...heading to rip out the lettuce garden, feed the spoils to the birds and turn it into an herb garden...makes me tired just to type it! LOL!

Has anyone raised hair sheep? I've had goats and loved them, but I'm looking for something to keep the grass down in my orchard when I sell the horses. Goats will be too busy trying to eat the trees. And I do not want to deal with shearing. The hair sheep I have seen so far seem a little expensive, but they shouldn't cost much to feed. And I can trim their hooves myself.

ETA (learned that from TerriO)
Annie just came home and announced that she was going to pick some strawberries.. I volunteered to go get some whipping cream.
eat your heart out, Heather.. and Dan,, she always drools a bit, can't help it.. I heard she licks the windows on the short bus, too..

Cind, I'd definitely be interested in a goop party also!

A few years ago I made a spicy pumpkin butter with cinnamin, cloves and nutmeg. Absolutely delish!!!!!

You know Jim... My son really does ride the short bus, so I really should open my can of whopp @ss on you. Unfortunately, parts of you would come to attention that haven't for years, and I'd be laughing so hard I'd get no whooping done. So i'll give you a pass, and just let you play with your little berries. :D

Hi Again...

vicki... I don't chime in about chicken questions unless I think I ave an answer, no answer means I don't know :idunno Hope the water wasn't a big problem!

TO... OK, I could be wrong but it's my opinion that the blood in that injury is pooling and is subject to infection. Did I Give you "Green Goop"? that may help. Drawing salve may help dry it out and keep infection out. I would also think there may be something in it irritating it. I would lance it. That pooled blood the bird is not "using" it anyway. Flush it out good, goop it and wrap it overnight.  JMO

Jim... yup, I wrapped it but the wrap keeps slipping over my round belly! LOL If we weren't so broke this month I would get one of those velcro wrap around things that's suppose to make you look skinny. I bet that would work.

CC... I did have some boards in front of the freezer to stand on.... but they wound up being used for a project :/ Glad you liked the Goop. I thought that batch was a bit weak. I made the extract version that batch. I usually make the "raw" version. The extract version doesn't take as long to cook down though. Even that is an all day affair. When 2nd son went into the Marines young son made sure he had a BIG jar of "Mom's Green Goop". He told 2nd son it would probably heal a bullet wound better than the medics. :love Brought a tear to my eye.:love LOL.... I forgot about the chicken! I love big butt chickens too

BBP... sorry about your duck :hugs

BigZ... I like your busted rib remedy!

kristi.... cool glass! Is that reverse painting?

bl4... Hope Taffy doesn't get "gator overload" . Cute that DH got it for her.

I too now have a coughing rooster. :barnie Have him caged and on antibiotics. The dumped off hen is getting friendlier, she fallows me around allot. I think she likes that I keep the roos off her.

If enough people are interested we could have a Goop party and I could show a few of you how to make it. Like I said though it's an all day thing with most of the time taken in cooking it down. (leaves time for eating, drinking and talking...hehehehe)

Well, guess that's it .... Night All!

I'd be interested in a goop party and the rest of the shenanigans

Well, with all of this rib talk, I'd like to chime in that DH has a cracked/dislocated rib as well. It happened while he was playing soccer, his team mate fell into him and the guys shoulder went into Nate's rib. I had to laugh because he was asked to go golfing today with some buddies and had to decline! He has to let it heal as he is going down to Tennessee next Friday to help my dad move up here.
Now that's a whole 'nother story. The reality just hit me (last night) that my dad will be living with us in 8 days!
barnie.gif
I haven't lived with my dad in over 20 years, so this is gonna be an adjustment!!!!
