Hey all!

Been out for awhile, keeping up with reading, but not posting. Well the kids are married off and gone away with their new wife and husbands. Nothing like handling all that in one week. Now trying to catch up on work which is decidedly not very fun.

Lost a young chicken today due to heatstroke

My little rooster from Delisha doesn't look to great either. I just ran a long extension cord (actually several) to get a fan on the youngsters. Apparently it's even to hot in the shade for them. They have loads of water. The one that died was up in the little house and it must have overwhelmed her. My older ones are hanging out in the bushes and in the shed today while the ducks happily play in their pool. I have water set out all OVER the place. I can't wait till this weather breaks and they get a little relief from this. Crossing my fingers the rest pull through ok with the fan.

Since I got chickens running around the yard the cranes and turkeys like to hang out here a lot. A pair of cranes was hanging with the chickens yesterday evening and were right up to the tractor in the front yard. A young turkey is also hanging out on the periphery all the time. Guess it looks safe...

Sitting here in the laundry mat parking lot.... Just finished my 3 piece chicken strip basket from DQ

Lunch special $5.... got a coupon for small sundae... will go back for it later.

God I'm dreading doing this.... No one else is here. The laundry mat by DQ had people... hope the air in here works. this one is nicer.....I think anyway.
Ok, I'm gonna brave it and go in......

Sorry about the chick. It is too hot for them :-( I am worried about ours. I put fresh water out in the am. Hope it last till 7:30 tonight... I tried conning my cousin into bringing my kids home for me and watering. No go.

Hi all...missed you this morning! I decided to go to my gardening job early (even before chores) to earn some $$ before the sun came out full force and made it unbearable. It was a good thing that I did too...my client has been gone and her hanging baskets looked terrible! Well, I got them a;; cleaned up and watered. I couldnt get into the garage to get any tools so I just worked on plants in pots. Then I went home to water...another hen has hatched about a dozen babies...I hope she keeps better track of them that the other one! I have 5 of hers in the brooder!

Well I finally broke down and butchered 3 of my annoying roosters. I skinned them as I don't eat with the skins anyhow when I buy chicken. Looks like we are having grilled chicken for supper. One of those nasty boys had my Cochin roo pinned to the ground this am breeding him, that was the last straw. It wasn't all that bad and im now not opposed to butchering!

It does get easier and easier the more you do it...especially if you are only doing a few.

To, I lost oone of your chicks yesterday :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( I put a waterer with acv, and one with electrolytes out today. One was also ...slow yesterday. I moved it to a pen in the back of the barn. I hope it is staying cooler :-(

Man...if you cant count on family sho can you count on??? Congrats on getting you dependents married off...maybe they can come and give my kids some hints?

OK--I am heading out. Thought I would get to pick up a daycare kid at 5 but Dad called and his Dad has her...this is NOT a way to make any money for sure!

Ok, I made it !!!!! Got 9 YES NINE loads of wash in !!! ET kept complaining he was running out of undies...... He must have put some of the dirty clothes in the back of the van a few days ago when I said I was headed to the laundry mat......... Nothing like a big surprise when I get here !!! Some Days !!! ..... At least I can take my time and go to Maynards in piece.... just wish I didn't forget what he told me to pick up !!!!

And I know he won't answer his phone......

I also lost two young birds yesterday.... a lavender from CC and a BO about the same age I ordered from Ideal. They were fine and had plenty of fresh water.... Gonna pick up some fans at Dollar General. $17 for 20" fans. Stopped there for envelopes and they were down to about 10... maybe go there before I hit Maynards.
I'll give our older fans to the chickens and keep the new ones for the house. Still cheaper then running the air (or having it fixed)....... Ok, just making excuses so I can buy more fans !!

Lisa, Good Job.... Don't know how you did it... I'm sure they must have helped No? I've only planned one wedding and one reception in my life... My Own and that was hard work.... 10 years younger mind you. But we got married in Las Vagas (Gee did I spell that right ) then had the reception two months later. Drug the whole wedding dress, ET Monkey suit on the plane.... Was at a real nice chapel with a real minister, real Organist and it was a real Chapel. Never mind that they tore the thing down now !!! So much for renewing on our 10 yr anniversary in January..... Anyone who's been to Vegas might remember it. It was Candle Light Wedding Chapel across from Circus Circus....may as well just married at the Circus since that what ET always says when I'm telling stories.... "Someone Put a Tent Over this Circus" !!!

Just before I left to come to town I checked on all of the ducks and looks like my two Muscovy hens are hatching ducklings today !!! Geez, they wouldn't even need to sit on them !!!!
Anyone ever touch an egg and it explodes in your hand and looks like it's been hard boiled ??? Happened two days ago. I was wondering if they are just old and rotten or did they actually get that hot and cook? But of course popping makes them rotten as well.

Sitting here by the window by the electrical outlet... Kinda cool in here !!!! Maybe this isn't so bad..... Oh wait..... I have to take them all out of the hot dryers !!!! Was going to bring some home and hang out on the line but that's to much work in this weather. My ATV is out of order (AGAIN) and ET's doesn't go in reverse !!!! And I aint carrying wet laundry down the hill !!!

Ok, that's enough for now.... I have to try to remember what ET wanted from the store !!!
