Well, I was a BAD momma today! I let the water run out

When I went out to check on them after going to Cracker Barrel with DH, there was zero water in the waterer. I immediately swapped it out with one I keep close by and I took each chicken off of the roost to drink. As they were all panting and most likely stressed (not only from heat but from lack of water), I actually dragged out the fan and hooked it up for them. I didn't even do this for my chicks last year during the 100 degree temps, but I figured if they are stressed from lack of water, the fan would cool them off a bit. None of them acted like they needed water either, so hopefully they weren't without it for too long. Must be more diligent!

Im so glad my first purchase was the Brinsea and I didn't go with one from f&f. The farm innovator won't hold a steady temp and im down to 12/41 eggs and not sure if they'll make it. They all had blood rings.

I just went out to check on the birds. I had left the garage light on for them to be able to get back onto the roost, so I went to see if they did. Well...what I saw was Delisha's 3 blk orps sitting on the ramp right in front of the fan!

Sissies. I guess if I had as much fluff as they do, I'd park my arse in front of a fan when offered too!

Ok, I'm back. You may start cursing now................. I was 15 pages behind, so if you saw me lurking, you know why.

So now CRS has set in just in time for me to get to bed. I had a few comments to make too. Can I hear a collective sigh?

Frenchie, sorry to hear about the lav. I hope it wasn't one of the girls? I can hatch you out some more, or give you some eggs any time.

Del, I'd give that egg an extra day or 2. For some reason, the past few hatches I've had at least one straggler hatch 2 or 3 days after the rest. My Brin is way too small to have a cool spot, plus the turner rolls them to different areas so I don't know what the deal is.

I can give you more eggs if you want to try again. Just let me know.

My birds have been ok in this sauna so far. I had one fan go out about 2 weeks ago but at least I had a replacement that I picked up on clearance last fall. A few days ago, the other fan took a chit.

I picked up a new one yesterday & got it out there, but they still look hot. At least they only have to spend the night in there. The chicks don't seem to be fazed by the heat. They are running all over creation all day long. A baby bunny hopped over to check them out yesterday and the chicks were afraid of it!

I sure wish I would have had my camera. Too funny!

Must sleep now. Sweet dreams, all! And unfortunately I'm sober so I'm sure I'll have a double post. Good one, Jim.

Why would two more,birds decide that this week is the one to go broody...don't the get that it is sweltering hot out. Will keep,dunking them in cold water until they might get it. Need to find a wire cage., at,least the frozen pumpkin from last fall is going to good use. They love it.
So can't sleep. Last day of swimming for my littles is today. But we have coach pitch baseball this afternoon which will be hot. I am a wuss in this heat. We went out after dinner to water and I did two wheel barrow fills,of mulch and was done. Yikes. Ope you will stay cool and have a great day

Bl4... Sorry about your job. Glad Taffy is doing better!

Dan... For a while one of my chickens was eating the only white egg my one white egg layer laid. When she died it stopped. Now and ten I find one that looks pecked but not eaten. Hope you find the culpret or it stops! I was told the chicken that lays the egg is rarely the eater.

FT.... I deplore laundry mats! Although that sounds like one of the better ones. LMAO I can just see you naked in the pool with your pigs!

Jim...Congrats on the late hatches and glad Dora is doing better!

Sclark... Yep, keep the birds in the frig for a couple of days and get the riggor out before cooking or freezing.

Wow alot easier doing this from my computer. I can share mega photos now. First is going to be photos of my BCM that started my whole problem that brought me here. One is French I'm sure, the roo that looks nice. The other 2 I'm not sure of, one had a broken wing which I doctored and it's the best its gonna get. This one also looks blue to me not black. I guess I've never had BCM before and to me the other 2 are ugly in their heads, reminds me of a vulture. Multiple photos, only 3 bcm. I mainly am wanting to know is this how their suppose to look and is the broken wing a roo and black one a hen?

growing very fast. He's younger than the BCM.

So Delisha, if I breed my blrw roo to the hen it won't guarantee a blrw offspring? I have 2 Gold Laced hens, 1 Silver Laced hen and 1 roo, A Blue Wyondotte hen and of course the blrw pair. I may have to pop over to that other thread to get the answers?

I suppose that's enough pictures for now, I have tons as me and my daughter are into photography. Most of the pictures I've been putting on have been taken with my droid so quality isn't as great.
