Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi all!

Anyone from Waukesha or the greater Milwaukee area?

Welcome, momgille! I have been thinking about getting a dehydrator for some time now. What kind do you have?
Thanks Just the cheap round kind, biggest pain though is pitting all those cherries, ergo the last 5 quart bucket became wine. We were at the state fair did you know they want like $48 for a pound of dry cherries? I also used it to make hamburger Beef Jerky that my son and the boy scouts loved. Think the ingredients packet came from Farm and Fleet. What I am looking for though is a good way to use all those raspberries that I have coming other than the normal freezing and pies/baked goods. Peaches too, seems they get stringy when canned/frozen they are the Reliance type small but tasty fresh.

Here's another one for you Mel. Check out the description ... It would get TO.....lol

That is a pretty horse, but the description is so painful to read that it makes me want to home school my kids.

JIM- It was less than a week ago I think That you wrote about picking up eggs from your friend, so you may not be as bad off as you think.

IRISHROVR - best dehydrator on the market is the Excalibur. Very pricy but worth every penny. I have 2. One really old and one almost brand new. Wouldn't trade them for anything. Tried the round ones, even the more costly ones and wound up giving them away. Best thing about mine is they are not just for food drying. I can use mine for craft projects, proofing dough, all kinds of things you can't do with the "Wal-Mart" ones. IMHO

Does this look like a good deal on an Excalibur?

Well, to be honest you might be disappointed. It only has 3 of it's 4 racks, it has no on/off switch. That also looks like it was not well cared for. A brand new one of that model sells for around $130. I paid I think $250 FOR mine and it has 9 racks which gives me lots of room to remove racks to raise dough, dry crafts, etc. As as well as saving lots of time by allowing .e to dry a lot of the same, or different things at the same time. I also have a lot more temp flexibility. If you invest in what you really need now, your Excalibur will keep you happy for years. Besides, check their website and get on their mailing list. In the fall they normally offer great deals and throw in lots of extra goodies. THINK I just got an email from them the other day. Just an FYI, my old Excalibur, which still works great, is well over 10 years old.

Just saw JJs suggestion. For $50 it might be worth the risk.

hi again,, I was just awakened from a light nap to talk to a guy.. he took 4 turkey poults and a young barock rooster. 5 less to feed !!!

I am "welding" a hub to a rim on a dolly that DD#1 found at a rummage sale.. of course I am using my old stand-by JB Weld..

JJ, I hope your memory is right.. I have no recall at all about picking these eggs up from Marlene. Annie also thinks the same as you.. I hope you two are right..

I agree with JJ,, Offer them a lot less than they are asking.. they want to dump that D-hyd.

Now I am going to try to resume my nap..
