Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Vicki as to your question about scratch, I have mentioned b4 here that I try to buy mine from Townline Feeds in Bryant nice clean mix of oats, wheat, and large cc, also a Nutrena dealer. Good folks that supply a lot of feed in the Antigo area. I like to support the mom and pop operations whenever possible. At the corner of S and Price-Polar Road. Last I bought was $10/50# I agree with CC use it dry as a treat, I also add a few things and soak for my ff here. bbl
Who you calling large?

Thank you Dan and CC (aka large) :lau

It is always "surprising"  to them..  but it sounds like it will be taken care of.. good thing..

It is kind of surprising really. The weather was really good for shipping. Maybe the post office left them in a chilly place or something because the peeping was driving them crazy. They always want me to come take them away ASAP because they keep them inside and they make noise and they say they stink. I don't smell it, lol.

JIM - sounds like a great day. The kind everyone should have once in a while.

IRISH - so glad you made it thru your outage without too much loss. :hugs

Thanks again Dan. I am definitely going to check out that feedmill. Maybe even tomorrow. Scratch lasts me forever because they only get a handful on chilly mornings in the summer unless I'm trying to bribe them to do something. In the winter they usually get more in the morning if it's really cold to help with their body heat when they play in the snow.

COLTON - so glad the rest of your chicks are doing well and Meyer is going to replace your losses.

FRENCHIE. - I think I know why that guy from CL never contacted me. I had mentioned that I did not want chicks off a hatchery line. Bet he wasn't really a breeder.
BTW - the house selling chicks north of Antigo now has the sign up for selling ducklings.

I'm back and nobody even inquired where was Jim ? I am invisible, like Heather, I guess..

I took a half hour to go gather up a wheelbarrow full of that nicely chopped green hay and put it into the small turkey's pen.. I spread it all over so that they had to walk on it.. It is their first experience with any kind of hay/straw bedding.. I always get a kick out of their first time.. they are so afraid of it.. "what is this strange green stuff under us ??" by tomorrow they will figure out that it is good to eat,, then they will know what to do with it next time I put some in there.....

Small cc Large CC .. I really had to fight the temptation to not put a smiley face here..

I have been working in Mequon for the last couple of days and just finished reading.

So Heather..what did you order? The Jubies?
does anyone know of any more poultry show this year?
If you click on the link on the bottom of my profile all the shows are listed. And yes there are a few more shows, in Wisconsin and surrounding areas.
Quote: I thought it was odd so many died too.

How are your chicks doing?

Thanks to everyone that wished my migraine away! If anyone ever wants to know if a storm is coming, just PM me and I'll let you know if I have a migraine or not. Usually, I'll get them a day or two before the storm hits. If I get one over night, it'll be a bad storm. And yes, this last one I did get overnight and the nausea lasted all day even WITH medicine!

Anyways, a HUGE thanks to Colton for shipping out eggs to me. BTW Colton, the envelope that I sent with the reimbursement for shipping contains a present for you! Enjoy!!!! And no I won't tell you, it's a surprise!!!! For those of you wondering, he sent me 4 light sussex, 1 BO, 2 red star, and 2 barnyard mixes. I should get them Saturday.

Tomorrow, I'm going to Delisha's to get some SLW eggs from her. So my broody will be a happy momma! She hasn't gotten up that I've seen. So when I put in the eggs tomorrow, I'll arrange something for her to have food and water close by the nest.

Do I need to put additives in her food? Change anything?

Life with dad is going well. We are still adapting to each others schedules, presence, personalities, etc. G.Pa and DH are building a wood shed in the backyard and work benches in the garage.

Other than that, I'm still filling in hole daily that Mr.Gibs digs. He is a digging fool.

Good evening...I still cant get used to this new reply box. For some reason there is a message that says this: The rich text editor is not compatible with your browser. You may see some HTML source displayed. Any BBCode you enter will be converted to HTML when you save. Now I dont have to paste in a box and then repaste either...strange. I do however, like the smiley faces down the side...much easier to use...perhaps Jim has been complaining?:p But now when I add a smiley it doesnt show up it is just HTML jargon! I am still using the same browser (FF) I will ask ONE MORE TIME....had anyone else's reply window changed?
so, I will try this again; posting picts.. ect. I emailed the breeder to get their response on what HE is... I got nothing. He could be an ameracauna or he could be an olive egger... sigh... I think he is cool as heck. but I wish they all still had their leg bands on!! I can't tell the black copper marans from the OE"s and it is driving me crazy. Of course No ONE is laying!! not even my usual crew. well 3 of the 8 are
hu.gif
so what the heck? I was thinking that the first pic was a Blue Ameraucana Roo...I didnt notice the feathered shanks (thanks Dan!) The 3rd(?) bird looks just like my Blue Am hens...is this the one that is crowing? Isnt it funny how we think we will remember and then cant...I have the same problem here....with SIXTY little birds! Seems that the system I devised for Cuties to follow worked only to a point. The zip ties on some of their legs fell off! I will get them straightened out eventually! I bet and EE roo wont taste any different than an Andalusian Roo! So this guy, I think is a black copper maran roo...... There are 2 more like him and one totally black with greenish feathers. that one has a really small comb and is crowing.. .. I would think that the totally black would be an Aussie if that is a choice. Mine are very iridescent! But maybe more purple than green. All the picts I look through, the boys all look like either... black copper maran and OE......anyone got a blue ameracauna roo to compare?? I think this one is that below... any thoughts??? thanks for the help !! I let all 29 of them out to free range yesterday, they all thought they were in one big *** chicken party!! LOL

Oh man...I cant wait to see what this reply looks like! I think I replied right in the quote cause there are no more quote boxes in my reply form either! :he Why does BYC change things that arent broke?
Thanks for the advise on worming. Poor things are probably loaded as I have never treated them. Hope I haven' t done them any harm,
I doubt if you have...I never wormed mine either until I came on here! And I had had chickens for 20 years! Actually I never saw a worm in their poop either until this spring! (and I hadnt just wormed them either) I think if they free range they might eat/pick up certain things that keep the worms in check? Well As of today I have less ducklings to sell...15 to be exact. I went to dump out the goat water and I poured out 15 drowned ducklings this morning! Just when you think they are big enough To deal with deeper waterers... Seems like it happens every year. If they would only stay out of the pens where birds are not supposed to be! I saw a cool lean-to on a barn for keeping wood dry today in my travels. I think I will build one like it on the side of my shed so the turkeys can roost there...they are getting pretty big for their present lock up location. Speaking of...guess I better head out and do it. Then it's bedtime for me! Working 7-noon tomorrow and then 5-midnight! At least I will be able to pay the mortgage this month! Nighties...TerriOwonderingwherecrabasswent?
