Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey all, haven't checked in for a while here, but wanted to say "Hey!"

Still happily working on my Iowa Blues, enjoying just starting the next generation from my newest flock.

Here are a couple pics for grins:

Forgive the watermarking. I've had some liberal usage of my photos, such as a hatchery using my photo of my Iowa Blue cock bird to advertise their Iowa Blues. It's actually kind of funny, since the bird was a terrible representative of the breed and he's no longer with us, but amazing none-the-less that they would take the photo, slap their watermark on it, and put it on their commercial website. Even emailed them requesting they take it down with no response.

The best I can do in my basement on my iPod. Sorry. But these are very beautiful juvenile Chocolate Orpington. They do have the expressive UK Orpington eyes. :-D

Welcome back

That last pic of the roo is great.

Should be titled" The last thing the grasshopper ever saw"

I am glad I got to talk to my company for at least a little while.. then the tractor fixers came and I had to talk to them,, it took just a short while to trace the problem to electrical,, then what ?? on a hunch , Dick pulled the coil wire off and put a different piece of wire in it's place.. VOILA !! instant start,, Ollie is healed.. tomorrow I will go and pick up some new solid core wires to replace the carbide wires.. I ordered them and they are supposed to be in by 8;3o AM

TerriO just left at 8:3o PM.. Hope she makes it home without any mishaps.... we sent a blackberry do it yourself kit along with her.. in a couple of years we all can go to TerriO's house and pick blackberries..

DrH, I didn't really miss you,, I just missed typing "DrH" .. You know you are not supposed to stockpile Walleyes,, you better send some over to me for safe keeping..

the new guinea coun t is 16 more than we had 3 days ago.. I am taking all the new babies to Marlene.. she is down to only 5 keets. selling a few here and a few there.. I have not sold even one..

Our place was like Grand Central Station today.. I sold one adult guinea and Annie sold the hospital bed..

I'm heading to Mason City to the NIPA show in September. Kind of have to head to Iowa to have any other Iowa Blue people to hang out with/show with, trying to get a nice display there with the club. Will hit the EIPA show in Iowa City in November, as well.

The NIPA show is the weekend before the Wisconsin show.

Thinking of entering the WI one, but don't think there will be any other IBs there so would be a display, I guess.

Jelinek11 -- sorry about your Dad. I lost my dad to leukemia about 10 years ago. Still feels like yesterday. It is a horrible process to watch and go through.

Well, yesterday the oldest started Freshman football and Drivers Ed in the same day. Tomorrow is freshman orientation. That's a lot of growing up in one week for a mom to deal with !!!

I am embarrassed to say we had to buy eggs yesterday

the "teenagers" 21 of them, are not laying yet.......just eating........and my 8 hens that should be giving me enough eggs to keep us afloat have gone on strike. 1 egg really !! 1 !!! uugghhh. I did find #2 all mashed in the box last night though

I hope the little buggars are not mess'n with the eggs!

Garden keeps growing, but producing minimally. The only thing that seems to be thriving is spaghetti squash! Lots of green tomatoes, a few green peppers... the kale is nice ;-) not gonna be an overly productive season! I really needed to can tomatoes this year, so they better start get'n busy!!

have a good day everyone! ~~ Welcome to the New Member!~~

My hens are out on strike, too, I think. Several are molting. Today I got 3 eggs - that's a lot compared to what they've been producing lately. Some days I get none. I hope that trend is turning back to normal soon! I still suspect the roo is eating some. He is in the nest (he even gets cozy and sits in there) often so I'm always checking for eggs throughout the day. Haven't caught him with egg on his face yet so the jury's still out on his guilt or innocence.

I also have a LOT of green tomatoes but today a few started turning red. I believe I'm about to get hit with a boatload of 'maters all getting ripe at once!
