SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ) - More than 50 animals were found dead at a foreclosed Shawano home on Wednesday.
It’s being called one of the worst animal hording cases ever seen.
A contractor was sent out to change the locks on the property that was foreclosed on in July.
They smelled a strong foul odor, and heard a dog barking. So they made a call to the Shawano County Humane Society.
Assistant Director Shelly Hansen thought they were dealing with only a couple of dogs, but after getting inside they found a cage with dead animals, which led to even more dead animals. “This is the worst thing I have ever seen,” Hansen said.
Hansen says two dogs, five chinchillas, five birds, two lizards and a 12 foot python were rescued, however they were in bad health. The lizards have since been sent to a sanctuary in Ashwaubenon.
Police are investigating and will likely seek animal neglect charges against the home owner.
The home is owned by 39-year-old Andrew Janz. He was found roaming the streets and was likely living out of his car.

Sounds like that guy would appreciate being arrested and having a bed and 3 meals a day. No doubt that if he's fined it won't get payed. Those poor animals. Could you imaging being locked in a house or cage and the person who's supposed to come feed and water you just stops? So sad. I feel horrible that my Turkeys are locked up in a pen today because of my garage sale. Some people . . .

Boy oh Boy so do I !!!! LOL Hey but we're experienced at that now !!! I'm sure it will need something and guess who will be looking online for parts !!! Geez. I haven't accomplished my tire mission yet ! Haven't even started looking into replacing the do-hicky on the tractor that makes the post hole digger work. He backed into something and bent that all to H3LL !!! What next .... Gosh, I had better not say that !!!

I'm at the other McDonalds now. I went to Fosters and Smith and spent $50 !!! Easy to do. Got some dog treats that were normally $12 for $2.5. Chicken and Carrot Wraps. Bought all 5 packages... when you have so many dogs gotta buy in bulk. Also got a container of Bene-bac Plus for $6 in the clearance section. Doesn't expire until July 2014 !!! Gotta read those labels !!!

Ran into a woman who I met at the humane society last month. Got to talking with her and found out that she just divorced her former surgeon husband who lost his medical license for child porn on his home computer. She said he always did free medical exams for the football team or something like that. Hind sight was 20/20 she said. Now he has no income, she has no money and she is trying to move out of the state. Very very nice woman who takes in the kittens from the humane society..... what a sicko he is. I pulled up his picture... he looks like a pedi-file. Guess he has to be registered at a sex offender now. She said he had to go to rehab. Cost $70k.... now he is going to become a Vet Tech !!!! Be careful you never know where these people are lurking...

So I called ET, he is meeting me here in Rhinelander. We're actually going to go out for FFF then to a movie !!!! The Butler, with Oprah Winfrey!

Ok, gotta go meet him at the Rusty Nail.... I decided I should eat my last supper before my Heart Cath on Monday and give it some real artery clogging good food. Never know it might be my last meal !!!! Live it up while I can !!!

How disgusting that that person would have just up and left their animals. I don't know if they were really hoarders but animal neglect definitely !!!!

Thank you Frenchie. My sweet Aussie hen is now gone (refer to amendment at end of prior post). Leukosis is a disease that causes internal tumors to keep forming until lungs etc are no longer able to function. Even though the tumors themselves are benign, they just keep forming and there is no cure. They often do well for months ( like momma did) and then quickly go downhill. I TOTALLY blame her health, and the others, on poor breeding and the horrible conditions they were kept in. Soup is the only rescue hen left. She also no longer lays but that's just as well. Her insides were such a mess that her eggs were so full of "chunks" they were just so gross I couldn't use them. I'm glad she quit laying. She seems to be otherwise a healthy, happy chookie. Now, if I can just get her to not be so bossy!!!

BTW - I haven't won the huge, fancy grill thing yet, I am one of the "finalists" . I have to show up tomorrow between 10 and 11 to sign in. There are going to be random drawings then the big draw at 11:30. Sounds like it's going to be the whole dog and pony show.

Ugh........ Disappointing news to say the least. Apparently Lawrence was already interviewing when I applied. They just took the job posting down last week, so it makes no sense to already have candidates to interview but yet keep taking in resumes????

So sorry can be so frustrating when they do that. You know they already had their person and just did the posting to keep things "legal". Been on both ends of that of that game. Much better to be on the front end.

hey !! the house was foreclosed , which means the bank owns it.. maybe it was not the guy's fault .. he was not allowed back in there,, and we don't know if he did or did not tell the bank that the animals were there.. maybe the animals were in fine shape while the guy lived there.. July was a long time ago..

I took Ollie for a ride and worked him a bit today.. I turned the compost pile, but not completely..
I hit a bees nest and was swarmed.. I did not get stung, only because they were confused about who or what to go after, me or Ollie..
Never the less, I got the heII out of there..(not their or they're)

I want to train the BO's and Barocks (barred rocks) just so you know I know}}
to go into the big chicken coop.. I cannot envision myself carrying 60 or 70 chickens one by one for several nights to teach them the new routine..

the littlest birds are feathered enough so that they do not need to be under the brooder hood.. they can be let out of the brooder pen, but I want to pen them in the guinea pen for a few days before letting them go outside.

Yeah Vicki, I am not too sure about that...... I happen to work with the Chemistry Chair's wife. The person they hired does not have half the experience I do......

Anyway, I suppose I will just have to grit my teeth and bear where I am for a bit longer. Something else better come up soon!
