Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good afternoon folks,

nice summer day in the north country

OK,,,,fess up Who cut the cheese recipe (and pasted),,**** qluten free ppl stealing again!!

at risk of sounding mean here,  sclark that "Americana" is just that, nice easter egger and it appears to have some sickle feathers forming. I'd say it's a cockerel, definitely a non standard color.

no excuse for those animals dieing, BUT since the bank had possession since July I think they would share in the responsibility. Around here at least someone would have inspected the house upon the owner leaving, of course in today's mortgage market that bank might have been anywhere in the country with no local contact at all. Sad story for sure all the way around

oh, and let me say, I too am a Spam fan, mystery meat in a can, now that's America!

dangoingtodosomeerrands

Not mean at all. I was told it was a blue Americana, it was just a throw in from a bunch if BO chicks I bought in May. I was just curious what sex it was.

I don't care what the guys circumstances were. When you take in a pet, it is your responsibility to care for it until it dies or you sell it. He has absolutely no excuse. If he was forced out of the house before he could rehome the animals he should have called someone (maybe the humane society) and told them there were abandoned, starving animals. And when someone gets foreclosed on it doesn't just happen overnight. He went a very long time not making that mortgage payment. He knew it was coming for months.

Let us settle this once and for all:

The gentleman in question must have some kind of mental illness going on. After reading the article in the local Shawano paper, the home contained a LOT of garbage, cleaning supplies, animals, etc,...... it sounds like he was a hoarder. The Bank showed up to take possession of the home one week after he had left it. The contractor who appeared noticed a dog barking inside the empty home. He called the police. There is no way those animals died within the span of one week with the level of decomposition they were at. I see this as no different than the little old lady who is lonely and starts collecting cats.

If you all want to pass judgement for yourselves, here is the link.

Oh, and one more tid-bit of advice: Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

Wow, isn't everyone friendly tonight/today! ( I hate it when the children bicker

Oh Well.... Night all!

Ok so a week ago I posted that I purchased 2 BLRW pullets, well I didn't tell the whole story behind the splash. I arrived at the swap around 7 and went to find the woman after that about noon. She wasbover by the horse arenas, her kids were showing for horsemanship. When I found her, she me an astonished look and just remembered the splash she had brought from home was still in her van in a box, locked up tight in the sun and heat since 7. She looked dehydrated and we brought her over to the Poultry barn to get a drink and grab the other blrw pullet and the ss roo I also bought. This poor girl drank for 3 minutes straight. I got her home and I did state I had thought she was blind in one eye as she tilted her head sideways and had this healing injury which I thought caused it. Well I took a video of her so bare with me so I can figure out how to share it here.
I think the lady fried this poor girls brain. I called her to see if their were any weird things going on before I purchased her and she stated she was fine before andI when I brought up being left in the heat with no water had no bearing on the outcome of my purchase. I guess thought she would honor that as she knew she made a mistake.

Im going to go check if she's still with us while you watch the video, has anyone seen this happen, seems she's had a heat stroke and has some brain function problems. Sorry for the rambly story just had to share.
She's alive but barely and is unable to eat or drink without me twisting her head/neck around the way its suppose to be but as soon as I let go it twists backwards upside down. I will cull today.

I sold 4 BO and 2 Buckeyes at the swap andbonly managed to buy one. A Lavender Orphington roos born Jan.4th, (day before my bday) He's out of lines from Dave of Roberts which I've previously heard raises some nice orpingtons. Now I can only hope I have 3 lav pullets I hatched.

I spent the afternoon helping the friend build a new pen for her pigs and got those moved. 3 went fine, but the one sow, now over 300 lbs didn't take being let out if the small pen so well and took nearly 2 hours to coax her out. But not before she flipped me over in 2 feet of liquid pig poo 3 times. Husband made comments of not sleeping near me so I slept in the addition with all my stench. 2 showers, tons of soap and scrubbing and I still smell as bad as when I started. At least their moved and into a nice size area where they can have room to move and not lay in their manure. I still feel horrible, but hope this was an eye opener to her situation. I will be taking rabbits to sell to another swap this Saturday and she has agreed to let me take a bunch to sell. Me and son 14 also sorted bunnies to keep the boys away from girls. Here I thought there was 50, well its over 70. Its a start and I will be trying to stay close to keep an eye so things don't get worse. I still feel bad as she doesn't know it was me, seems deceptive but I feel I had no other choose. She also is going to let me sort her chickens and decide which ones to sell but I explained to her the importance to downsize so she can enjoy them more and not be so overwhelmed. I know all this may backfire and she could just keep on but it seems she trusts my opinions and does sincerely appreciate the help I've been giving her. Only time will tell.

Sclark, so sorry about your pullet. It sucks to have to cull a bird because of someone elses negligence. :(

Did you see the video? Did it look like it would of been related to a heat stroke? Or maybe something she knew about before? I've never dealt with this type of issue. I paid good money for the bird for one, besides the poor thing suffering. I put her on vitamins/electrolytes as soon as I brought her home last Sunday and she just kept getting increasingly worse.
