Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Sclark & Frenchie - I pray all goes well with the doctoring today!!

Looks like the garden will get a boost (if I water it) over the next few days. Maybe the 'maters will ripen faster!

good morning folks,

another purrrrfect summer day in the north

Heather, crunchy? great pic of Halden btw I think he is imitating mom in that pic, sprawled in her goggles, playing on the putor, sucking on a pacifier...

Judge nice pics good looking AFLAC ducks ;-)

hot weather might get the tomatoes ripe, time to hit with some ferts either drench or foliar to help the process(maters like a little xtra potassium this time of year). I use liquid fish and kelp from Dramm try to support WI industry(Manitowoc). Keep up steady watering also in case we get some T-storms it helps reduce splits.

way to many young cockerels in the yard I need to get more in the growout pen tonight, no bites on the CL ad looks like I will be filling the freezer in a couple weeks

still really like what I see from the White Chanteclers, growing fast and good demeanor, a couple of great looking pullets at this point

bbl

Good morning! Had a young Mom and her 2yo son here picking mulberries again this morning. He LOVES them. He also had a ball eating pears off the tree and picking peapods too. I sent a huge bag of veggies home with them and she bought 2 doz eggs. Guess they dont have to grocery shop for much this week! I love garden time!
The Zucchini that I left on the vine to get a "little Bigger" sure did! They have got to be 8 pounds or so.

I guess I am making a stuffed one for dinner...then tomorrow it will be that zucchini lasagna I was telling you guys about where you use the planks of Zucchini instead of noodles. DD21 also picked a bunch of produce from her friends' place. She brought home a HUGE bunch of celery! There must be 5 plants all stuck together in this bunch! What am I going to do with all that celery? I guess I better head to Google....

I am hoping you are already done at the doc Frenchie! Prayers and hugs to you and the docs that they FINALLY find out what is wrong so you can get back to pseudo-normal!
Prayers to you too Clark...that swelling doesnt sound good at all...blood clots come to mind especially after surgery. I am glad you are heading in to get it looked at! It is true that sitting around with your feet down can swell them...but so can being up on them for hours at a time! Like someone else pointed out, I think you are guilty of the latter! Rest woman, rest!
Nice pics BTW!
hugs.gif

Geez BigFam...you get all sentimental at work dontcha? YOu need to bring something along to do...take up needlework! Then you accomplish something too. I loved how you called Clark "all builder-y" totally cracked me up!
Cind--you are on a tough road lately! Didnt that sink plug up last year too? (or was that the toilet?) If the snake isnt long enough from the drain you could always go from underneath...if nothing else is plugged it might just get you the extra distance needed? Good luck!

I think this was part of the post I tried last night that self destructed. Sure wish I could remember what else I said!
So can anyone ID this plant? It blooms pink or white and has very shallow roots. It is perenial and also self seeds.

This one got out of order...the bouquet I picked last night that the cats spilled all over the floor this morning! I forgot to set it in the sink last night.

Here are the pod things that the seeds are in for the mystery plant. The lady I got it from didnt remember the name.

Guess I better water the critters. Then it's off to Menards for me...dog food time! Then to the mill for my weekly load of feed...I might have to stop at the grocery store too cause I am out of cheese and you cant have stuffed zucchini without that!

Have a good one! TerriO

good mid day, a guy is supposed to be around noon to look at the cross bow..
the surest way to have someone show up is to get on the puter..

TerriO,, I think we called those "Snap Draggons" .. I can't tell to good by the picture..

I locked the teen/POL chickens out of their coop today.. put their feed and water into the main chicken coop.. most of them have checked it out, but that doesn't mean they will go in there tonight..

I turned the juvies loose in the guinea pen with the door closed.. It did not take them long to catch on to being let out of the small brooder pen.. and there are at least 30 guineas with the 9 Delaware chicks in that pen.. and at least 30 keets in the TV, that will be moved to the brooder pen tomorrow.. there were 3 new ones this morning..
this hatch is dragging along because the eggs came from a found nest so some of them might have been started already..

I washed Ollie's bucket real good this morning.. a guy is supposed to come and weld some plates for reinforcement .. I picked up the plates from the steel man just up the road from me.

another neighbor stopped Annie at the mailbox and gave her a package of dried beef jerky.. it is his recipe, but the butcher shop does the drying and packaging.. I have not tried it, yet..
it is called DNR dried beef..\\

guy is here, gotta go.

guy is gone , took the bow,, I paid Annie back and now I am still just about broke..

My nice looking BO rooster is starting to crow,, he has the perfect cock-a-doodle-doo song.. it is still quite meek, but he will get stronger.. He know enough to not cockadoodledoo near the bigger older roosters.. but give him 25 yards of running room and he gets pretty cocky .. he is also taking after the POL girls.. I had to rescue one of them,, he had her down and didn't know when to quit..

reinds me of the old bull and the young bull.. the young bull says, let's run down the hill and get one of those cute heifers,, the old bull says,, No,,, let's WALK down and get them all ..

I love my lunch breaks with the peeps, hope all is going well for everyone today. I started work early today so I can leave at 3:00 to see my new pullets. Rod just called to let me know they are home and doing well, and even though these new birds are about 1-2 weeks older than our hatch, ours are bigger . . . yup our birds are spoiled little chickies!!
momgille: I'm not familiar with Dave Gieghtbrock of Evansville, when I think of that area and chickens I think of JJ

We are getting our Delawares from Erica Solis of Emancipation Acres which is in Stoughton, here is her blog site http://emancipationacres.com/ She sold us a dozen fertilized Delaware eggs when one of our hens went broody and, not knowing how our hatch would go, we ordered eight pullets that her hens were brooding (she sexes them at three months). She also has Buckeyes (another heritage breed), but I like my Rhode Island Reds. Next year when/if we have a broody, my husband would like to find some Black Jersey Giant eggs. I would rather add to my RIR's, we'll see how that plays out.

FrenchT: I hope all goes well for you today

SClarck: Good advice by others like Bigfam & TO. My sister and Dad deal with anxiety and depression, sis uses a light in the winter and manages well, Dad doesn't and it is a struggle every winter. You and your loved ones are in my thoughts.

Vickiw: I'm sorry you lost you mama hen, she was lucky to spend her days with you and really glad Noodle is doing better. By the way - I don't think it is dumb that you were in tears after hearing Noodle's congestion. I think you handled it better than I would have. You referenced oregano oil, could you please share with me how you will use it and is it for just respiratory or is it good for over all health? I realize that at times chemical/pharmaceutical is needed, but whenever possible I like to use natural remedies or supplements. Also thanks for the info on DE. Your comment that you use the "shake and bake" method gave me a chuckle, I had visions of a very large ziplock baggie

Very intelligent young cock!!!

Very good!!! :lau

Well back from the docs. They give me a nausea pill as the Morphine is really tearing my stomach to shreads. Their answer for the swelling is a Protein deficiency from not eating enough protein. How can that happen in just 5 days? I sometimes wonder why I go to the doctors as I'm never happy with their answers because to me they don't make any sense.

WOW! protein deficiency? Shouldn't that have shown up in your pre-op blood work? I know they look for that because if you lack protein you don't heal properly. That is why I am willing to drive over 2 hours just to get my oncologist. When you actually find a doctor you can trust and trusts you to be an intelligent being, it is till death do you part as far as I'm concerned.

They never even did any blood work and they said the defeincy has just been since last wednesday. That's why I felt it far fetched, they never even did blood work today. I think their all talking out their asses. I think its either a reaction from the morphine or from them stopping my aspirin, which I was taking 2 a day for my lupus causing the sticky blood.(hypercuagulating)(sp)
