We are OK here, storms weakened substantially by the time they swept through. Apparently Shawano County had a Tornado warning as the front passed through; no idea on damage if any.

Happy the plants were able to get a quick drink that did not require me getting out the hose.

I bet Terri has met just about everyone on here...... more people than Jim!

I can hear my poor gardens go "SLURP"

THANK YOU LORD! and of course a prayer said for those still in harm's way. Hope you are all safe .

Ah, so that's what that slurping/sucking noise is! I'm loving this rain! The tomatoes are starting to ripen in bunches now - between the heat and the rain there should be some great pickin's from now on.

I concur, Terri is willing to travel and is much less of a sociopath. Oh, and my dad is bigger than your dad.

NOT ONE DROP OF RAIN HERE, AGAIN!!! 'sigh'

Well after 4 hours at the ER I know nothing more than I knew when I went in. I have Peripheral Edema, blood tests look normal and only thing they think it could be is caused by the surgery. Wear compression stockings and keep elevated which I had been doing since Monday when I seen the urgent care dr and it has done nothing. They said no aspirin in case I start bleeding from surgery site and to follow up with the ENT dr. The same dr that hasn't called to check on how I've been since surgery or to set up a post-op appt, and same office that told me they didn't deal with the swelling in the first place. And this is our medical care that is getting paid thousands to care for all of us Wisconsinites!

Didn't rain at all in town, but when I got home saw that it had but not enough to say it had.

Ok son 14 has come up with a plan and I told him I'd run it by the group to see if it's something worth while. He wants to sell his rabbits to purchase some chickens to start his own new breed(if it hasn't been done yet) "Lavenderahmas" (Lav Orp x Light Brahmas) He's going for the lav body color with the black points that brahmas have. I am so new to breeding that is it even possible to get the color that he wants? He loves Brahmas, but isn't overly fond of the colors they come in. This whole thing come about as he's sure he will win the Pullet Surprise and get an incubator, if not he's planning on saving his allowance and buying a cabinet. That boy sure has big plans. I'm trying to convince him to just take a breed and spending the money to get a nice small flock and selling chicks but why listen to mom.

I just realized yesterday that I have tons of jewelry that I make, why not take it to the swap/craft sale to try and sell. I usually spend most of my winters making it, usually to give to family and friends for xmas gifts or other holidays. This past year though while my daughter was working at the green house they let me have it for sale there until it was selling like hotcakes and they wanted to charge me 25% commission, well if I had know this before I started I could of priced it accordingly before I grew a quite large client base. I kept my prices low enough that I was making a small profit but paying for the product and was selling steady. I ended up pulling all my stock as I didn't want to increase the prices to accommodate her overly greedy boss. The worst part is when this happened I had been at the shop the past 2 days and seen her but she said nothing to me. She had another worker tell my daughter to tell me. Anyhow, long rant, just wanted to share my epiphany with everyone.

25% commission is actually very low these days! The standard rate is 50% at most stores so you were getting a bargain.

SClark- the lavender gene dillutes black with 2 copies. If he bred the brahmas with the lav orp, with enough selective breeding he could get a white bird with lavender tail and neck feathers. I think he'd have a real difficult time getting a lavender bird with black. It may be impossible.

Hi all--what a crazy day...I still should head to Jefferson to water my clients' plants...maybe. She says it doesnt look like rain--glad I have the sprinkler on the garden! The Hubbard leaves were so droopy! Of course DH turned it off when he got home...I wanted to have 4 hours on it but he shut it off so it is going again!
You have seen the pool every time you have visited..it was usually filled with ducks.
HaHa--I was thinking that they were in the kiddie pool! Hopefully you refilled it>

!
You guys are hard to keep up with! I've tried to keep up with the posts, but there are sooooo many! Anywho... Does everyone here know each other in person or just from visiting this thread?
Funny Denim--yes many of us have met in person. (the bash in Spring is over the top fun!) But many get together to trade birds, check out each others' set ups or just to visit! DOnt be shy...if you want to meet send a PM to someone close to you! Of course then you should make the meeting public cause then you might meet MORE folks. The more the merrier I always say. I think I will check out doing a poll here and see if I can find a winner of who has met the most people...I will offer a prize of baby muskovy ducks. I only have about 50 though!!!

THIS IS CRAP!!!

Well it is really fun to try to make a "new" breed. I certainly wouldnt discourage him! I have finally had success with my muskovies after 8 years! If nothing else it will keep him busy!

That is too bad about the jewelry...now you have to raise your prices to make the same profit or lose your place to sell...double whammy for sure!

Maybe, maybe...not too sure though. I am glad that you didnt have any damage there. I dont think we are going to get any rain. We could sure use it!

OK--off to Jefferson! TerriO

I agree Irish, it wasn't the %, it was the timing. I wasn't making 5% with the prices I had so I couldn't give her 25% and keep selling at her shop. Had she decided it prior to me selling it would not of been a problem. She only stated that if it was a credit card sale I would pay those charges which was sensible and she wouldn't charge me commission as it would get people into her shop. I had already had my prices set and everyone knew what they were. I hope it's understandable now. I didn't mean to sound like I was being greedy as I'm not. My set prices are Necklaces $12, Bracelets $6 and Earrings $4 as a base price and if I use crystals or special beads it's a bit more but nothing over $20. I wanted people to enjoy my jewelry at a reasonable price but also pay for my winter hobby.

That sounds kinda interesting, I'll let him know how hard it is going to be to try and do what he wants.
