Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I ate a baked sweet potato for dinner tonight. Its the first one I have ever had. Really filling, but not something I would prepare the same way again. I'm thinking mashed with pecans and maple syrup would be good.
OMG You never had sweet potatoes? Not even on Thanks Giving ???? Made with tons of butter and brown sugar ??? That was one thing that I would volunteer to make.

Just nuke one and smother it with butter and brown sugar !!! Do the same with the acorn squash!! You're skinny enough to get away with eating like that now and then !!! LOL

I do work at two places Frenchie, I work at UW-Fox in Menasha and the Chemical Co. in Oshkosh. I started back at Fox this week since the semester begins next Tuesday. I am only an LTE (Limited Term Employee) at Fox...... I find it funny that I have been an LTE for 6 years....... of course they want to hire me full time but cannot (creating positions at Universities is difficult). I suppose I should bite the bullet and get my Masters in Biology so I can Teach instead of do the grunt work..... it would be great if I could get the UW to pay for it though!
That's what I thought !!! Then all of a sudden one week you're hating your job then this week in love with it. Guess I should have noticed when you were off from Fox. Yeah, I guess these days you wouldn't want to rock the boat, better LTE then not at all. Hopefully times will get better and you can get out of the Chemical Co for good.

Had the vet out today to do vaccines on my filly and coggins on the gelding that's for sale. I also got some tri-hist from her. The poor filly is broke out in hives. We couldn't do a steroid shot because of vaccines. Poor little thing looks terrible. And I have the feeling its from or new hay :( If that's the case, I have 600 bales to sell and replace with something else (less weedy).

And yes, it's true, I had never had a sweet potato before today. I don't care for root vegetables. So I've never had the desire to try one. I know they are super healthy so I'm giving them a try. Once I'm off this detox I can add different things to them. But no butter or refined sugar. I have a half marathon in a couple of months I need to stay focused on eating healthy. I get done with the marathon and Thanksgiving will be just around the corner. Should be interesting . . .

Thank you everyone for your condolences for Moose. He was a great old rooster. Not a mean bone in his body. He will be greatly missed. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to send the PMs, Heather and Terri.

Irish, thank you for your concern. No, the heat/humidity doesn't give me headaches, although the change in pressure will give me a sinus headache every time. I don't know what my problem was, but I'm just very thankful it is gone. No fun!

Cindy, how big is your kitchen? Speaking of plantain, did you ever answer my question about using it dried? I kinda skipped a few pages.

Bl4, so sorry to hear about your dog.

What a helpless feeling when they are suffering.

Huntress, what kind of birds are you looking for?

So sorry about Latte, Ang.

Stacy, those pictures are beautiful!

This is as far as I got. I'd better post this before I lose it.

Hi all,
Ugh lost a chicken today. Not sure what happened. She was just outside one of the nesting boxes a broody was in. Maybe heat?Terri, no I had made spicy pickled veggies and jalapeno bread and butter pickles. The spicy veggies have carrots, cucumbers. Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, peppers, beans and onions. If you want the recipe I can give it to you? I made kosher dills tonight. Never made this recipe before but I wanted to try something different. W had been using the pickle recipe my mom has made forever and wanted to see if I liked something different. Anyone know what makes a dill pickle kosher? I know what kosher means as far as religion but I didn't really see that the pickles were made anyway special My two nephews twelve and nine are spending the night. My sister has ben dealing with severe migraines since the weekend. Tomorrow I
go see my great nephew. It seems like my family is prone to having boys!
Tomorrow the contractor is coming so we can finally get going with the kitchen remodel. So exciting!
Good night

Hi All!
I read but my brain is kinda fried tonight so only responding to last page. Nothing going in tonight is sticking.

Gee CC, did respond.... gave a list of what we need. Yes, all dried. As for the size of my kitchen, good question. It's a U with a side wall. Kinda Small though. However it's open counters on 2 sides to the dining room and the living room. I could move the garbage and you can park there.

Sounds silly, but you could see the kitchen and we could still get around you and there is room to make a Y turn to go elsewhere. Neil sits in his walker in the kitchen and the 2 of us can maneuver around each other. If I ever get my drain fixed it should work with a few people.

Judge, sorry about your hen.

I lost one today too. I think the heat got her. I got her as an adult and she laid 2-3 eggs a week yet. However she just broke brood less than a week ago and and looking her over I noticed she was starting to molt. I guess adding the heat it was just too much for her.

Wow, this sure hasn't been a good spring/summer for my flock!

Oh well, things to do, then I'm going to try for early bed.

Sclark, good luck to your son! I agree it would be nice to see some quality birds...it's just such a long drive I guess I'll have to stay over.

Delisha, good luck to you too! If you've been to this show before can you tell me if there are birds for sale on Saturday and what the Sunday swap is like?

CC, I'm looking for Orps and LF Brahmas...different colors than what I have now so maybe lav Orps and dark Brahmas.
