Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

momgille- Yes I have a dslr, Nikon D90 with about 5 lenses or so. Me and my daughter have a photography club here is Rusk County but after some bad heath the beginning of the year I've postponed the meetings until a later date. We donate our time and photos for Christmas in Bruce and also have donated to the Harvest of Talents auction thats held in ladysmith for the church. Last year we raised 510$ for the even which all money is given to local food shelfs. We have thought about going pro, but theirs so many photographers out there.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments on my photos.

Looks like I must of caught a bug, went to bed just after 7 with a fever and I can barely walk atm as all my joints hurt so bad. Antibiotics from surgery must of weakened my immune system I'm sure.

Have to head in early this morning so I can leave early tonight. It is Open House at the school tonight and since I have a new high school student and a new middle school student I think I should be there.

I feel like I did not sleep at all....... spent the night tossing and turning....... chewing something over in my brain.

Everyone have a good day!

Sclark, good luck to your son! I agree it would be nice to see some quality birds...it's just such a long drive I guess I'll have to stay over.

Delisha, good luck to you too! If you've been to this show before can you tell me if there are birds for sale on Saturday and what the Sunday swap is like?

CC, I'm looking for Orps and LF Brahmas...different colors than what I have now so maybe lav Orps and dark Brahmas.

I wish you weren't so far away. I'm trying to get rid of a gold laced hen and a silver laced rooster (brahmas).

There are birds all over for sale. It is a good place to find good quality birds since many of the exhibitors bring birds for sale.
Quote: Are you selling all of your Orps too?

I took a picture of my 6 month old Gold Laced Orpington. He is really coming along nicely. He weighs 10.3 lbs.

Morning all :frow

Clark - so sorry you aren't feeling well again. :hugs. you really should let your doc know. Just in case.

No bad news here this morning :D. Everybody on the mend, 2" of rain, no storm damage, we survived the heat so far with no AC. who would have ever thought we'd need it this far north?

So sorry for everyone else's losses, what a rough, crazy summer. Even with the heat it is beginning to look and feel like Autumn up here and I am ready! :pop

Have a great, blessed day everyone!

good morning, I like these warm nights and mornings.. I could do with a little less heat in the middle of the day though.. AC is my friend..

Vicki, the name of the stuff for Dora recommended by TerriO is Flavocin ,, It seems to be helping a lot.. Dora has been on it for only 3 days, so it is too soon to give a full report ..

My welder got rained out yesterday.. Wellll, he did not come because he thought he would get rained out.. It was raining in Merrill , but we went the whole day with mostly sunshine and not a drop of rain.. so as it turned out, it rained in the AM 8 miles to the North of us, and then in the PM it rained 15 miles to the South of us.. nothing in between..

I think I am having a dyslexic moment,, I am typing letters wrong using the opposite hands .. makes for a lot of corrections.. I should leave it alone, it would make for some interesting reading..

loose, not tight,, tight and loose 5 letters each
lose . the opposite of find .. find and lose 4 letters each

desert , a hot place
dessert , something good to eat ,,,, the extra S means that you would want another one..

I lost a couple of young birds this week.. this kind of heat is hard on them.. most of them can take it,, but if they have any other issues, it hits them hard.. I have a BO pullet that is showing signs of heat problems.. If she still is alive today, I am going to dunk her in cold water.. so far I only set her in the water pan and she drinks and then walks out..

this typing is driving me bonkers,, bbl

What actually is this? What is it suppose to do ? Inquiring minds want to know?

Thanks FrenchT lots of good info as always.

All these recent losses makes my heart ache - one of my spring hatch worries me. I think she has been picked on, but not certain. KristiP will be stopping by my place Friday maybe she will have thoughts on my little one. A couple of days ago one wing was kind of hanging and last night it looked like both, but then ALL the chickens had their wings fluffed out due to the heat so I couldn't tell if she was hurt or just hot. Then one of the adult Delawares attacked our little blue bantam Wyandotte, if hubby had not been right there to stop it, she would have killed my little blue dott

Not sure I'm cut out for this chicken gig . . . I'll toughen up, I enjoy the birds and eggs too much. I did have word with my older Delaware later that evening after she picked on another of her flock mates, she just craned her neck and wouldn't even look at me. I then offered her a piece of cheese (peace offering) and she wouldn't take it. After I set her down, she fluffed, ran past me, then came back and waited for her cheese. She is such a diva or b!tch, depending on how mad I am.
I do work at two places Frenchie, I work at UW-Fox in Menasha and the Chemical Co. in Oshkosh. I started back at Fox this week since the semester begins next Tuesday. I am only an LTE (Limited Term Employee) at Fox...... I find it funny that I have been an LTE for 6 years....... of course they want to hire me full time but cannot (creating positions at Universities is difficult). I suppose I should bite the bullet and get my Masters in Biology so I can Teach instead of do the grunt work..... it would be great if I could get the UW to pay for it though!
babylady4: The University is a good place to work but can be very frustrating and your situation is one of the things that had always frustrated me when I was in HR. I have always maintained an LTE (Limited Term Employee) should be used as originally intended, for temporary employment. Too many good workers are taken advantage of, and this (IMO) is abuse of the system. The reason many will do this is that, the pay is usually less than if that post was permanent, and LTE's receive a lesser fringe rate since they don't received most of the benefits permanent staff do so it saves on their budget. I sure hope things change and you are able to get that moved to a permanent post. Keep after them - sometimes that squeeky wheel does get oiled

On the tossing and turning brain chew . . . I use an essential oil blend during times like that. Rub a little on the bottoms of my feet and it does wonders, also I'm not at all groggy the next day.

Well it looks like my report is about ready so back to business, maybe I'll stop back to lunch with all you great PEEPS . . . later

Or did you mean the Flavocin ?? We are giving it to Dora to help her get over her stiff joints and muscles.. As an after affect of her illness, she moved around like she was 16 years old..
she is just over 4 .. now she is gaining weight and moving and wagging her tail.. maybe doesn't seem like a big deal,, but she went for months without wagging her tail.. In the past all we would have to do is say "Dora", and her tail would go.. Maybe insignificant to you all, but I missed that ..
