The Honey Sunday event at Mosquito Hill is going to be held next Sunday, the 15th of Sept. It is a hands-on learning experience and they have a wealth of information on raising bees! I love going and would LOVE to raise bees (of course the gated community here will not allow it).

I will most likely go, so if anyone would like to meet up let me know!

Irish that horse situation makes me sick. What ticks me off even more is the lack of response from the idiot sheriff's dept.

sure if they were COWS they would look OK, these are horses you nitwit! You do not have a cow vet evaluate horses.

My thoughts? Go out there at night with a trailer, clip the fencing and whisk them away to a better future.

I would also like to go - now that I'm not chained to the store on Sundays! We may have visitors, though, will have to wait and see.

Hey bl4.... I did hop in the pool yesterday. Et went in first and he said the water was cold. I thought he was just being a chicken..... Nope... It was freezing ! Must be from all of the cold nights we'e had. Today the water temp was 72 and the air was also 72! Felt cooler then that, to cold to swim though, at least in my opinion. So instead of swimming I dug out an old buggy pony harness that I borrowed sometime last year. Never did try it on Geovani because well, just because.....LOL
I want to return it but I want to try it on him for size first, plus I want to ground drive him to see if he is even broke to drive yet.
Wow, I am nodding off big time....
I had better quit while I am ahead !!! Forgive me if this makes no sense !!!! Night all!

ETA: I got the harness all cleaned, oiled and blessed. Felt good to finally check something off on my to do list !!!

Delish ... "The boys" may turn out nice, but since I no longer have a hen

The blue is the dark one?

Angie... The hen that was with these boys didn't have hardly any comb and tiny little waddles. I think they're less than 20 weeks old.

kristi... cool bees! Should make an interesting X-mas card! LOL If the pears are small enough you can make spiced pears. If your going to make leather, and your going to taste for sweetness, remember, as it drys the sweetness will concentrate.

Irish.... so sad about the horses.

No one p!ssed Jim off. He took a hooked on phonics course and learned to read. He's currently reading back issues of Veronica and Jughead adventures... (He fancies himself a lot like Jughead)

I guess a good book to read is "Bee Keeping for Dummies".... My doctor has gotten into bee's and told me about that book. Hmmm sure hope he's no dummie !!! LOL

So what are "leathers" whey you dry fruit? Is that a new word for dryed fruit? How are you drying your apples? Do you dip them in lemon juice or that powder (forgot the name right now). How long do you dry them for?
I would like to dry some and rehydrate them in the winter for the animals. I just have the old round dehydraters. I'm always afraid that they might not get dry enough and worry about any slight mold that might not be visible.

ET got 5 used tires from his boss for $50. Right size but not the same rate load. But for $50 can't go wrong. Now I'll just keep my eyes peeled for two more that match the good ones that are on the truck now (but coincidentally had a flat this weeknd (must have something in it)). So that's on my list for this week, plus getting it aligned and something fixed on the front end (CRS)
Seems like ET and I are both coming down with a cold. Dang I hate that !!!!! I am anal about using the hand sanitizers while I am out shopping etc.... he isn't....bet he brought it home.....always his fault you know !!! LOL

So Heather are you itching to have another boy now ? LOL

VickyW, I didn't forget, I read your post about the coyotes. I don't know who that guy is. No coyote losses this year,

or any fox losses either, that I know of. Some of us have a few more chickens to keep track of so hard to tell unless it is one of your favorites. I did loose a bunch of guines (I think hens) They disappeared I think to sit on nests and never appeared again. They seem to be appearing in groups again but I don't hear the two tone call that the females make. I must have had a bunch of females before because it is much quieter now.

Doesn't look like a swimming day today either unless it gets real hot. The problem is the cold nights=cold water. Takes about an hour to get used to !!!
