Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi All!

Momg.... I'm sure if it were one of your kids going to clean of that blade you would have said something..... sometimes we mom's don't take our own advice! Like I always told my kids "put sharp knives in the sink or the dishwasher the same place and the same way each time so you know where they are and you won't get cut"... guess who got nicked doing dishes?

Not anywhere near needing a trip to the E.R. like you.

Jim.... You could send me a batch of those rolls quick....not sure if I'll have time for fresh ones this year. We're doing our T-day Sun.

JJ.... I LOVE being in the woods anytime! Even at night. When I was a kid and even into my teens, I spent as much time in the woods as I could, way more than most kids. Didn't change much when I got older, until it got hard for me to walk. I miss the woods.... allot!

Well, went and got my grocery shopping done at 12:30 am! I needed food for the house and did NOT want to go on Black Friday!!!! Guess I better get them put away then off to bed..... Night All!

good morning, looks cold out there again.. I can always tell when it is going to be cold.. the geese went into a coop last night .. their choice..

it looks like we are having company today.. DS and his GF might try to make a trip from Middleton.
She is not well, so it depends on how she feels when she wakes up this morning..

Terri, I feel bad that I did not send some wine with you.. I mentioned it to Annie the next day.. Sometimes my head is up my arse .. msybe that is why Annie bought me a tractor, so I could pull my head out ..

Cind, it doesn't take much to mix a batch of rolls..only 10 minutes to mix it up,, then the wait for it to rise, You do not have to sit there and WATCH it rise, you know.. 10 more minutes to put them into a pan , another wait, and 20 minutes to bake.. the hardest part is actually getting started,,

Oh how thoughtful,, Annie just brought me a cuppa.. now I have TWO cuppa's.. she didn't see me pour mine..

we caught a roo and a pullet yesterday and tossed them into the coop.. now there is just one Del pullet on the loose..

I have a small ceramic heater plugged into a thermo cube.. the chickens are very content and the egg production is starting to rise..

I put the 200 pound bulk feeder in with them.. so constant feed (layer), water and a little heat to keep the water soft,, I keep a light on in there 24/7/365 ..

One of those BO pullets is making signs of going broody .. either that or she really likes the nest boxes.. You would think she would at least lay her first pullet egg before doing that ..
well, maybe she did,,, outside somewhere,,?

Cuties, how is the keets tail ? one of the parakeet's tail was bleeding a little bit when they were ready to leave.. we packed it with corn starch..

I do not like cold weather.. seems like things break, one after another.. I broke the handle off of the "frostless" faucet outside because it was frozen, and the handle was plastic,, so I bought a new one,, turned on the water and the hose end that screws to the faucet broke off before I filled even one 3 gallon bucket.. Now I have to dig out another hose from under the snow and prolly frozen to the ground by now.. around here, sh!t never ceases..

But, I am now on my second cuppa and the world is looking brighter..

Good Morning Peeps!! Looks like lots of full tummys out there from yesterday's festivities and more good eats to come for those gathering this weekend. Do we have any "Black Friday" shoppers amongst us? I'm not a big fan of shopping the big box stores and really don't like crowds, so we will be doing the local thing Saturday. I like to go to Monroe and stimulate their economy, with a stop at New Glarus on the way, they have a nice little coffee shop - need my java fix ya know

Jim: I remember those pics from last year and absolutely love those dogs!!

delisha: I'm so sorry you are having this trouble and do hope the worse is over and your tests come back clean.

momgille: Gee Connie, next time you want to get out of doing dishes let me know . . . my sister wrote the book on it and you really needn't go to such extremes. Seriously, I'm glad it wasn't worse. The guy delivering our windows told of a co-worker (not a newbie either) that was moving a big sheet of glass, in a hurry and didn't put on his gloves . . . bet you can see where this is going, yup cut open both hands when the glass started to slide. I would have let it drop. Tough way to get time off work.

Well nice and quiet here at work today, but not much to do - I have a feeling this will be a long day. Oh well get it out of the way then only three weeks to go.

Good luck to those on the hunt, be it deer or deals

I hear ya on things breaking in the cold, same thing happened to us - what is with the plastic parts on outside faucets??? My other winter beef is that the white stuff hit before I was ready. I had covered my carrot patch with clear plastic domes, so should be ok to dig them tomorrow or Sunday. Then pull my temporary fencing, finish packing bark mulch around the buckets covering my lavender (If I can dig into the mulch pile) and I'll be set . . . till something breaks!! Next year I should be more prepared for winter since I'll be retired . . . right??

RBC,, Oh yeah, some day let me tell you all about retirement.. when you retire, so does all your get up and go.. what you need to get things done in life is "urgency" .. when you are working, you sit at work and think of all the things you could be getting done,, if only you were at home.. or, the day would be perfect for fishing, if only I were not stuck here at work..

when I was still working and the kids were at home, we had a half acre garden, we raised and butchered 200 chickens each summer, raised our own beef and pigs.. went fishing a couple of times a week, was on a bowling team,,

Now, I can hardly find time to feed the birds which might take 20 minutes if I am not in a hurry..

my advice, if you want to get anything done at home,, keep your job ..

Good morning! My DD21 is coming to hep with the chores!

Unlike you Jim (cause I wasnt ready for winter either---even though I am well aware that it usually starts about now....) my chores take an hour on a good day! (If nothing breaks) Looks like today will be a day to bring some hot water out to pour over the pump handle for sure. I use the quick connect hose parts and the sleeve doesnt like to move if frozen. I really like those things too, I dont have to take my gloves off to use them and it's just a click and they are attached.
I will try out my new Christmas feed scoops today. They are a little longer than the originals so I am thinking because that is how I measure I will be ripping through the feed even faster! (

Tommy is crowing up a storm here in the living room. I am thinking of taking him along to my clients' house today...I have to see if he needs a bath though...those cochin feet sure get dirty~
My turkeys were on display yesterday for sure! Out of the few surviving ones I think I have 2 more Toms and 2 Hens. That brings the breeding total to 4 Toms and 3 Hens. I think they were feeling lucky that they werent in the oven.

Time to get ready to head out...then off to work for me! Have a great day! TerriO

Late Morning To Everyone....thanks for the good luck mom! At this point in the season, I'm gonna need a lot. Took the morning off from hunting. I plan on a long sit tomorrow.

Sorry about the feed issue delish....WTH! We don't need those problems, do we!

Can someone help with the oral dose amount for Tylan50....I have a roo with a sneeze and runny nose. I gave a really small dose this morning, prolly just 6 drops.....0.25ml....thanks in advance.

I hear you on the solitude of the woods....it's hard to beat even when it's cold out. I forgot to mention that yesterday morning at daybreak a turkey came off the roost and almost took my head off when it flew past...I could see the whites of his eyes...I pulled back just in time. Dang that coulda been trouble for me.

Later...bigz

TO<

I lost 6 birds. 2 of my old birds who were 6 years old and 4 of my chicks ranging in age of 4 weeks to 14 weeks. Two younger ones were Orpingtons. The older ones were rocks/hatchery birds. I do have three here I might still cull maybe 4. Three of them are Gold laced and ..yes..in my house. They just are not recovering. The rest of them seem fine.
