Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey all!
Terri, it is waaaay too cold to make an outdoor video!
Cind, hope jon made it home!
I found a guy near to us that sells us straw at $1 a bail. Not too shabby
I sure feel bad for my outdoor animanimals! The pup is so cold when he goes out, he does his business ri ght outside the door! That is getting old. I know if I walked hm out he would go further. But its too cold for that!!
Happy weekend!! ( in an hour)

Wow, you guys are killing me with cheap straw prices. I know it was high priced TO, but I really can't get by without it here. Maybe someone can offer me the cheap stuff, so I still have beer money...LOL! The birds are warm and I'm parched....what I won't do for the flock.

Good News bl4...hope he ends up with a really good home. He's had it tough enough and deserves a better life.

Is it Spring yet?

It worked! Very poor hatch rate :-( but at least we got some.

good afternoon,,

4 eggs so far today..

Terri, we never used to have trouble with the septic tank, but last year it froze up in the riser tube. there is a lift pump in there and if that freezes the water can't get out .. and then it backs up into the laundry room in the basement..
the tank top is about 3 ft from the surface, and If I don't cover it, the frost goes way down.. some years it doesn't freeze, but I don't want to take that chance..
I just thought of this,,: maybe I should have a load or two of dirt dumped over that area to make the tank deeper ?? I'll do that next summer..maybe lay down a couple of sheets of styrofoam and cover that .. thanks for the idea DeH,,

my oldest GS moved to Texas last spring.. he is in the middle of that cold and ice they are having.. he says that not many people know how to drive in those wintery conditions.

I only have to drive a couple of miles for the straw.. I could take the trailer, but to get to the mow, I have to back up a pretty steep grade.. not much fun when it is slippery ..

Jim, if the top of your pump tank is that deep ( actually even if it were shallow ) should not freeze.

I can see the insulation for seasonal use homes...hard to keep heat producers in the tank feed.

Not the worst day I have had working outdoors. On the way to the job site...saw a muzzle load hunter out in his tree stand.
