Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Thanks...now I've got the cooking bug. I think I'll make cinnamon rolls.

BL4-are you allowed to have the ducks now???? Either way, enjoy their visit!

Put in the heat lamps last night and it's a good thing that I checked before going to bed as one burnt out. I luckily had another from brooding and switched it. I've got to head out to check food and water levels in a bit. I don't wanna!!!!!!

Keep warm everyone! They say 10 minutes max out in this weather before frostbite. Also, bring your dogs indoors.

CS, not able to have them now or in the foreseeable future. So they are going to spend a few days at our spa.

So who do you think proposed this idea?

This was the husbands idea! Blew me away when he suggested it too.

-18 at 8:30 this morning with -40 wind chills. I believe it will be a baking day here as well. I rescheduled my interview for today too, I am not comfortable driving so far from home in these conditions.

Stay warm everyone! Don't overdo it.

good morning, I did not start baking yet.. I read about the cinnamon rolls, now my dinner rolls sound kind of blah ..if I had a cinnamon recipe, I would make them.. hint hint .. I suppose I could look one up on the int/net ..
ate "sticky buns" the same as cinnamon rolls ?
ETA: I answered my own question.. they are not the same.. I looked it up on the net ..

I'd give you a recipe if I really liked the one I used. The recipe for the dough was fine, but the "filling" was too sweet, too much brown sugar and not enough cinnamon!
I looked up a recipe for sweet bread.. It is almost identical to the roll recipe I use except they add 1/3 cup of butter .. I use 3 tablespoons of grape seed oil..

I think I will mix up a batch of my recipe and then make a batch of cinnamon filling..

I like lots of cinnamon,,

I found a recipe for the icing.. powdered sugar, black coffee and a bit of vanilla.. {I think I will use almond extract..}

I was going to copy the recipe, but with all the r preamble etc, it was 78 pages long.. all I need are the ingredients,, not the speeches ..

I don't think I would like the brown sugar.. maybe I would, but it doesn't jump at me like something I would like .. but they do use brown sugar for caramel, don't they ? hmmm, maybe a batch of caramel rolls, too..

this is going to be a busy day, I think ..

My BIL brought the pen over a little bit ago, I think the ducks are enjoying the space.

Nobody is baking anything here...... yet. I have a pot of country style ribs boiling on the stove, I'll toss them in the oven later.

Cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, they both sound good but I think I'll make brownies today.

Okay all you bakers out there are you using the Rhodes frozen bread dough? If you are making from scratch how are your houses warm enough to get them to raise or are you doing the warm water in the oven method? Or are you using bread machines? I mean 11 dozen that is a bunch of dough. IDK but mine always suck at raising. I know my grandmother made the best bread and everything but mine always are heavy as a brick or doesn't raise decently if I do them by hand. She used the yeast blocks and not the packets. What is everyone using for yeast? I also have one of those kitchen aid mixers with the bread hook but haven't had much luck there either. Hints and recipes appreciated, for totally homemade. I can handle the Rhodes frozen dough recipes myself

Wish I didn't have to work for a living

Ohhh and for everyone like me that is using a heat lamp or bringing things indoors. Will the transition back to normal cold weather be hard on them because we brought them in or artificially raised the temps?
