Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yupper blue andalusion :)
I am so excited for these to grow! The adults are so flighty. I know it is the breeds characteristic. But I am hoping the ones we raise will not be as bad. They are with the blrw. And I already see the blrw being much more friendly.
I will post another pic I just took. Mayne the lighting will be better. I am ok not having a lot of blacks. Are they like the blrw? You need to breed black in occasionally to keep the blue from washing out?

I know there was chatter on here today, but CRS strikes again!

I did the the frig. cleaned out tonight, the ice maker is leaking and makes a mess on the bottom. If we didn't use so much ice I would turn it off.

Night all!

I just went out with vetrimycin and cornstarch...picked him up and he was so calm while I sprayed on antibiotic spray, then sprinkled cornstarch on his (in his eyes back accident) comb, let me spread it around etc..without incident and it seemed to be stopping the bleeding. He was such a sweetheart about it too. (Lots of sprouts as a reward lol) Crossing my fingers.
How is Pico today?

havobator 1588 is great IMO

I forgot to ask.. I am doing vaccines on all shipped chicks..do you want your chicks vaccinated? Your first silkie was hatched yesterday and I vaccinated her with the rest. The other two are due next Monday.

Hello all!

I have a few egg questions...

I have a EE that lays an egg with the air bubble on the side... why is this? I would think I shouldn't hatch these, since I think the chick wouldn't have any air to brethe at the end.. Is this true?

Also, I was thinking of hatching out some of my dark eggs that I get from my BCM x BR mix, but the egg is never really clean inside, there's normally a large blood spot and also the yolk has some type of dark mustard looking gunk in it. Will her off spring have the same issues?

(For one thing I'm not totally sure I want to continue to have mixed birds, she is my only one. ). Does anyone on here sell Black Copper Maran hatching eggs? Can you please PM me with your price for 6, a picture of what your hens and roosters look like and the color of the eggs? I'm not looking for any until the week of Apr 7 or the 14th.

-- Can't believe it's already monday, but I had a good weekend. :) My chickens were out each day enjoying the sun.

Cuties - cute chick pics!

As far as hatching eggs and lock down..everyone has his or her own opinions..

you are in the end..I can't give advise since I have no idea what you did in the beginning. any advise could kill your chicks if they have been improperly incubated.

As long as they have good air flow (off the ground, top plugs used for regulations)
as long as the eggs come from healthy hens
as long as they have been around 100 degrees
as long as they have been around 30% humidty
they will hatch..

Del, if t is mereks go for it :) have you heard from the marans breeder? I left a message with out a response back? Perhaps 1876 could get n on that.
Thanks hens n roos I will mark this chick. Maybe since he is so dark it wil have really good lacing!
