Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

LOL! CS, I sent you a message before checking here. Will do! Want anything special while you are here? Brownies? Bars of some kind? Jim?

My whole coop is about 16x8 and I have 30 chickens (mostly bantams) and 12 ducks in there. But they only sleep in there. They have 2 8x8 covered runs (one on each end) and a big run thats probably 30x30. And they free range all summer. Unless I have a breeding project going. Usually one coop and the big run are reserved for my meat birds.

I put those 2 day old turkeys in with my 2+ week old chicks and the chicks are terrified of them. Its kind of funny.

Brownies, bars and sweets in the morning?!? Dang, we need some more peeps up here to do that too! Gosh, sweets for breakfast, combined with good like-minded company... How I miss that up here... Sigh

I will be heading up to cth T near romahawk on saturday morning,,
going to pick up 24 guineas..

I will be selling off the roosters.. all I need are eggs from the hens..

Brother Dave is always ready for a road trip..
I buy him breakfast, and he gets to go off his strict diet without the wife knowing ..

I also have a bathroom, CS..

I bet Jim has one with a sink! We have been trying to get a replacement since October! Now I am so sick of dealing with the company that I am just going to purchase a new countertop/sink combo as soon as we can! Very frustrating........ of course the sink is an odd size so you cannot just go purchase one at the local home improvement store, you have to order from the company.....

WildSam, I am the oddball in the neighborhood. Nobody around me wants chickens. I cannot move out of here fast enough! Good thing my in-laws were kind enough to take my Calls. It would be nice to have them back home though, I miss them.

Ginger is fitting right in. This morning she was chasing Fonzie around the yard playing.

I am glad they are getting along, she is super sweet and would love to be a lap dog!

Night all!

You're welcome to move up here to "the crazy bird people" any time! ;)

Have a safe trip chickenscratch!
How.do others house their ducks and chickens? I had a very hard time keeping up with the water mess in the coop this winter!

Just read 12 pages and CRS! Now it is time for bed. Sweet dreams, all!

Oh yeah, insulate your coop, follow Jim's advice, large door, windows with screens, good ventilation without being drafty, the bigger the better, make sure it has electricity (heat/heated waterers in winter & fans in summer). Did I miss anything? Just be sure to go big on the coop. Chickens are addicting!

Trust me on this. I started with a 7x7 and am up to a 20x20'. And a chicken tractor.

You might not fill it up with chickens right away, but you can always section it off and use the extra room for storage space. You can never have enough of that! Good luck and enjoy your birds!
