I just had a heart attack. I had made dinner called him down to eat. He never came down. At least I never heard him come down and he is a herd of elephants when he walks. I came in here and ate, helped the kids to get seconds. I came back in here to watch some stuff on Hulu. Walked out to go get a shower and found the kitchen spotless.

Nice, Fernie. Well, it seems like everyone had a good Easter. I survived! There were 8 kids running around at my mom's house, so it was crazy and loud! Glad it's over and the kids are asleep! Have a good one everyone!

There are 6 here daily, but they are all mine so I am use to the noise....

Hi All!

Sounds like most of you had a good day! DH went to church and we really didn't do anything special after that. We did have lamb on the grill though.

I'm going to have to make the climb into the coop loft Mon. When I locked up I could swear I hear chirps from up there.

I'm hoping it was just some barn swallows.

I guess that's it ..... Night All!

Sounds like everyone had a great Easter and was busy!! We made it to our farm Saturday night from Florida... what beautiful weather I arrived home to. I can't imagine that last week might have been cold, except for the fact that nothing really grew since I left. There were a few crocuses in bloom and my tulips are up a few more inches.

Spent all day yesterday outside.... removed all the sugar maple buckets and cleaned them and all the equipment. Rearranged and cleaned our one car garage building so we could move the 2 dutch rabbits that we picked up last winter. Finally able to move them out of the mud room... dang were they stinky by the time we got back. I think my Dad feed the well, which equalled much output. Now all 3 of our rabbits are in the same area getting to know each other. We need to find ourselves a male dutch. I have a male Rex but he must be 7-8 years old now and he looks so tired lately, just not his normal self.

Bees are doing well.... I'm not sure if we would use a top box feeder again. It's a box that has 2 sections for filling with sugar water, the bees come up from the middle to eat. In one of the hives they created much comb on the inner cover above the box, the other just a little. I would prefer they focused their attention on the frames where they are supposed to be doing their work. Otherwise all looked good, we saw eggs and larva that should be hatching soon. They have filled about 2 of the 10 frames with brood, pollen and honey (since they haven't found any nectar they are still eating the sugar water so their honey is clear - when I get on my other computer (non-MAC) I will add a few pictures. I'm not a MAC fan, somethings I like others I don't, I don't think this one has a SD slot.

And Jim you are right - honey bees are not aggressive.... there were flying all around me with no dive bombing my suit or veil. They did seem to like my DH..... he's not as confident as I around the bees.. he said that it was a little overwhelming to him.

I candled my Cream Crested Legbar eggs, which have been in the incubator 9 days, I think 4 of the 7 are viable. 3 looked just like they did when I put them in, the other have this dark line that circles just below where I had marked the air sack. I hope those are veins and not rot.

I better stop writing otherwise my post may wrap two pages.... All this and taking care of chickens took up all of my day!! It was good to get outside!

Have a good Monday!!

good morning,, welcome home .. we made the trip to Fla 5 years in a row ending in 2005. left in Jan and came back the first week of April.. Loved the fishing down there.. I fished almost every day.. we stayed in a condo on Sanibel Island..

all is well with the bator now.. 45% hum% and 99*F and holding steady.. I am tempted to put some cross breed eggs in, just for the Haliuvit.. and that would be a good way to test fertility for when I separate the breeds in about a week or so..

I have way too many Delaware roosters.. if we don't sell a couple (3), we will have to off their heads.. I can't put that many in with the hens, and I can't have them running among the Buff Orps after I separate them..

the hydraulics went out on the tractor yesterday.. I hope it is just low on fluid.. the next alternative is a spun out shaft again.. that is an $80.oo part .. shitdam..

still have to find someone willing to work on the Blazer.. nobody likes electrical problems..

Good morning. I've now got 2 of 10 chicks out. One splash orp (its yellow) and one GL-pullet (it's black). I didn't take the time to check the other eggs to see if any have pipped.

Sorry to hear about your cake bl4

Glad you found Dora Jim, Is she sad that her pups are gone or getting a well deserved nap?

Del- your gl pullet is fertile.

Dora was well over being a mother before the pups started leaving.. she can sleep a lot.. what else is there to do ?

I think there were a lot of chickens and guineas who spent the night in the pine tree..

I am going to have to start catching them when they go into the coop to eat.. I think it is time to start separating them.. I was going to wait, but if an owl finds out they are in the pine tree, I won't have many left to separate.

It will mean more chores with feeding in so many areas, but it is going to happen, sooner or later..
