My favorite little hen, Angel. She's 1/4 silkie, 3/4 cochin. I gave the rooster I got her out of to SClark. He was from Tiki.



Broody hens always get to raise at least a couple of babies around here.

good afternoon, 5K to come visit ? where in heII is he coming from , Africa ? Whoops, probably ..

don't ask me how people can be so out of tune,,

I have to set up a brooder in one of the coops.. there are just too many chicks for a tv or two..7 or 8 have made their way down to the floor of the bator..

I am going to put these on C L .. going to call them meat cross breeds ..

the ones that I don't sell will be butchered at about 2 to 3 pounds.. as soon as I can tell the roos from the hens...

what a nice day we are having, eh ? my favorite plum tree is in full bloom I noticed a lot of apple trees in bloom too.. funny thing, though,, there are still a lot of trees without leaves ..

well, I better go get a brooder hood warmed up and put some bedding in the big brooder pen..

Picked up some blk orps from Vicki today for a guy in So. IL. I also came home with a (splash) BLRW pullet, we think. I brought Theo there to play with his sister, Cookie. Here are some pictures of them.

I really enjoyed the pics of Theo and Cookie,, she has her mother's face and Theo looks just like his father..

I got 34 of 48 chicks hatched and transferred out to the guinea pen brooder..
there were a couple of guineas mixed in with the chicks, too..

It didn't go as smoothly as I thought it would..
the wire to the heating element was broken off , tight to the element, so I couldn't splice it back together..
as luck would have it, I still had pieces of a LG bator and I snatched the heating element from that and put it into the small brooder hood.. almost got it done when I accidentally tipped the brooder and it fell upside down onto the floor.. the sudden jar broke the little fan.. everything will work, except there will be no fan to push the air around..

I will have to go back a hundred pages and find that link to small fans ..

I have one woman to call and see if she still wants some guinea keets.. if not these few will find their way out to the brooder with the chicks..
they sure don't take long to stink up a room..

gotta go pick up Kalib at 5.. I want to go eat at a Chinese buffet tonight..
