Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Depressed Monday for sure. One really has to consider that the mob controls the games, when you see the calls that are made, and not made!

Nice looking chicks birdman. Quite the mixture.

Kinda nice outside today. I wish I had some ambition to do something.

Maybe later I'll venture back outside and get going on something.

Just remember, you're asking for opinions during the coldest part of the year. If you asked during the summer, you may get different answers. My chickens free range, so we try to keep the coops out of the yard. Their run is in the woods, so that if they do have to be locked up, its shady. Some breeds just don't handle heat well.

My coop is away from the house and just into the woods as well. It helps with air movement within the coop, offers shade in the summer, but protects the coop during the winter months too. The coop is not too far from the house, so that it is still helpful during cold temps when I have to feed & water.
Hello..I have silkies. They are very hardy and I agree with everyone on protecting them from the cold. I do not heat any of my coops but my silkies coop is insulated. I do open the door on all sunny days no matter how cold it is. They are not crazy about the snow and do avoid it a little more than the rest of the flock. They sure have enjoyed the last few days..They do not do well in heat. They need shade more than other chickens. Fresh air, sunshine, good food, fresh water, and room to run and play, a safe dry place to sleep away from cold drafts with good air flow is all they need.

That game made me so mad. Those two minutes lost the game. Not only his little slide show, but what they did with the ball once they had it..It almost looked fixed..I wanted to break something..Stupid Packers.
Yes, Happy birthday (tomorrow) to Cookie & Theo! Nathan and I took Theo to the beach yesterday. I'm trying to build up the muscle & tendons in his back legs. He was definitely feeling it after the walk (I could tell by how his gate/stance changed from the start to the end of the walk). Once it gets warmer, I want to get him into the water for exercise too.

To all Packers fans, HUGE disappointment!!!!!! Many lost opportunities and it does seem like the second half was a different team!

Hiyah... Read an article about FDA admitting that 70% of store bought chicken contains arsenic and I says "Why oh why can't Jim live closer?!" So I could sweet talk him into killing meat birds for me...

How has everyone been, and how much trouble could Robin possibly have gotten into without me? (Probably pretty well behaved since I seemed to be the one that brings out the sass in her!)

my life is complete again,, ..

Birdman, it looks like you will have a nice variety with those chicks

it is very fun to see what they look like mixed!

its really neat..this is the second batch of mixed birds and as they grow you can tell which is the father....it seems to me that the white ee rooster was the dad to most of these birds...barred rock got a couple of them and the brown ee got one....I wanna know where the silver ones came from....my guess is the Sumatra hens produced them...I think those are my favorite...
