Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Afternoon To Everyone.... Welcome to the Cheeseheads Goodwinfarm. I think Hens&roos raises meat rabbits and I think some others also. If you hang around, I know some help will come along on here.

The DNR sent my notification for my spring turkey tag...I'll have the first season, while my buddy from fondy drew the second season and my daughter drew the third season...

that will give me a chance to call for both of them after I have the dust off the call the first week. It will be something that I look forward to doing again.

Sent my order in to sand hill preservation today for my garden seeds....it won't be long now before winter will be behind us. We are on the downhill slide now!

Welcome!

I have found a local farm that is in the business of raising meat rabbits. They are on FB as Black Rabbit Farm. I too am interested in raising meat rabbits and would love to get into the business since they are $7/lb!

good afternoon,

Nope, my coffee was just fine,, I didn't have any extra time this morning,, I had to go to the dentist and have a crown re-attached to a molar,,

when I was a kid, my mother would not let me raise rabbits.. she said that they ate too much..
I just realized that what she was avoiding was SHE taking care of them when I would surely have put it off or just plain ignored them,,

after I got my own place,
I tried rabbits once or twice .. I didn't care for taking care of them..
I don't think I ever ate domestic rabbit.. but I hunted rabbits and ate lots of wild ones..

Brent, you have a long turkey season coming up.. You can shorten it by calling really good.. or prolong it by calling badly,, what control you have over that situation ..

How big of a range does a flock of wild turkeys have?
I have seen a flock about 1/4 mile down the road. I wonder if we put in some food plots, if we could entice them out of the cornfields and into our back fields. I don't want them in the front yard of course... lol

Hi All!

LOL.... I knew my son had been throwing scratch out on the deck for the wild birds and the turkeys in the morning. But he confessed today that Missy (my only hen turkey left) has been coming into the house and cleaning up what he spilled. Today I guess the dog got between her and the door so she wondered from the back room, to the dinning room and all the way to the kitchen! I told DS... if she poops, he gets to clean it up!

That's it.... Night All!

Cookie is in heat and guess what...she climbed the 5 foot fence and took off. I see other foot prints joining hers out in the field and than they go into an area I can't get into. I am worried sick. Looks like I am fixing her sooner. I might have to sell all of my birds and find a new place to live. I am having surgery next Thursday to remove some nasty nodes...Life sucks about now.If you hear anything for anyone please let me know.

Ae Del, I am so sorry to hear. I hope things work out. I know this would be a gery hard thing for you to do.
I know that Irish is looking fornsome young chickies. I hope you do not have to sell all. I wish you were not such a drive. And I could help you out with chores while surgery.
I hope Cookie is not pregnant. It would likely be a much added stress. If you used the Spayme clinic they do run lots of deals. It is a very affordable way to have your pets fixed. It is near Terri. And I spend the day at her place when we get our pets fixed there. They have no low income qualifications. It is a service to anyone in the public. They also have drop off/transport places all over.
Best wishes!!

I can't fit many, but I could probably hold a couple if you ever needed. Then when you're ready you can have them back. I'm sure it sounds strange, but while I thought about it, it made slight sense.

good motning,
If she was so in heat that she climbed out of her pen, and joined a male dog..
by now, she is already PG.
schitz happens..

I just got home from a short road trip.. went to look at a rescue Maremma (female)..
I just want to say,, there are no bad dogs,, just bad people..
I did not take the dog.. she is nice and friendly, but so many bad habits ..
she jumps on people,, not her fault,, she is encouraged to "dance" with the guy..
she climbs up on the couches and beds.. again, she is ordered to go to bed.. Keeps his feet warm he says..
won't allow him to put a collar on her..
and she is kept in the house most of the time.. I am not concerned about that, but the guy has her so brushed and combed, that there is no way I was going to take her home and make her stay outside with no hair for insulation..

he can't get a collar on her, she won't go into a dog carrier and she won't get into a car.. tell me, just how in the heII do I get her home ??

but if anybody here wants her, I can get her for free.. with a little work she can become a good dog.. she is only 3 years old.. she came from the same place as Frankie did..

I walked all morning and found the hussy. I hope she is not bred. She still has so much blood and is only her first week of bleeding. She is not even all the way swollen. I hope it was just a pre date. In any event I will take her to get xrayed in two weeks to see if she is pg. If she is I will get her fixed. Joe said no but I am not going to listen to him. I would take her in now but he is being a bit of a butt head..to say it nicely. I put her into a pen she cant get out of and Joe is flipping a brick.
