Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I walked all morning and found the hussy. I hope she is not bred. She still has so much blood and is only her first week of bleeding. She is not even all the way swollen. I hope it was just a pre date. In any event I will take her to get xrayed in two weeks to see if she is pg. If she is I will get her fixed. Joe said no but I am not going to listen to him. I would take her in now but he is being a bit of a butt head..to say it nicely. I put her into a pen she cant get out of and Joe is flipping a brick.
why bother with Xrays.. if you are going to have her fixed, then just have her fixed ..

don't underestimate what she can't get out of.. our DD's dog chewed her way out of a cyclone fence ..(dog kennel)

Quote: Thanks Jim, I will watch her close and check the kennel often. It is a cyclone 10x6 fence in area. With a top. I hope she will be OK in such a small area. Getting her fixed is a sore subject here. Joe does not want her fixed, or caged, or a collar on. He thinks if I loved her more she would stay home..that she leaves because I am not good enough to her. A loved dog stays home out of dedication and pure joy. Insert eye rolling here. I want her fixed, he does not. It is a constant battle.

Lol Del. Any dog will wander. It is hard to keep such a young large breed dog and expect her to stay home w/out constant monitoring. Maybe he needs to remember what her breed was bred for ;)

Sunny Morning To Everyone....yep Jim, in a perfect scenario I will only hunt 3 mornings...however, I know better than that. It will be fun for sure, no matter what. A crummy day of hunting, is better than a good day at work always.

They range a couple miles for sure wyo. They roost in mature trees at night. If you have a woods of those near, that's a big plus.We have a large flock of hens and jakes here in the backyard....I'm quite sure all the longbeards are on top of the ridge and not allowing the others to feed in their best feeding areas till mating season gets a little closer.

Tough to hear about your surgery delish...especially if you have to give up your birds. Hope you can find a sitter for them. I think keeping them will help in a speedy recovery....good luck with whatever you decide!

My hens started laying again on their own without any light all winter. The days are long enough now to trigger them into laying. I'll prolly start collecting eggs for hatching in a couple weeks.

Be Safe.....bigz

Deli, hate to say it but that dog is bred. You can do a pregnancy test at the vets office, but if you are just going to get her spayed anyway then why bother? Just get her into the vet ASAP. The vets will usually only do X-rays after 45 days and I do not think you want to wait that long. They can also do ultrasounds but again, they have to wait at least three weeks after breeding to do that.

I just spoke with a friend of mine who is a Vet Tech. The best outcome for all is to have Cookie spayed ASAP, and the sooner the better. The more pregnant she is the more vascular the uterus becomes and the worse it is all around. I would hate for you to lose her just because of this.

Just made it back from town. Went and paid the first half of the property taxes....dang , it's like rent and never goes away...

Pork loins on sale for $2.19/lb in town....just had to pick one up. Cheaper than pork steak, and can be used for a lot of different meals....tonight it's thick cut pork loins fried in panko crumbs with baked potatoes and buttered green beans...we love cutting our meat anyway, so it works well for us.....$2 per meal for us, and it is a good cut that satisfies your hunger...cheaper than a fast food sandwich.
Get with the program of country living, and it's life at it's best! I know you all do this...

good afternoon,
I had the puppies out for a long time to get more acquainted with Gus.. He was a bit nervous at first, but after the cyclone went by a few times he adjusted..

I tried to get pictures but they were running around too much,,

..
Frankie and one pup,, the other two were too busy making trails in the deep snow
to pose for a stupid picture..

..
here is a white on white picture of the pups ..I don''t think I got
all 3 of them here either..

You're lucky Mel. We have almost as much snow down here as Jim does. And more coming on Saturday........

Darn those pups are cute, but what baby isn't?

Vic, check your PMs please. Luv ya lots, sweetie.

Bigz, on rare occasion, the loin can be bought for $2/lb. down here, where we buy it up & freeze. Love to slice it for breaded chops & such.

Not much else new here.

Cookie is in heat and guess what...she climbed the 5 foot fence and took off. I see other foot prints joining hers out in the field and than they go into an area I can't get into. I am worried sick. Looks like I am fixing her sooner. I might have to sell all of my birds and find a new place to live. I am having surgery next Thursday to remove some nasty nodes...Life sucks about now.If you hear anything for anyone please let me know.

Oh no! I hope you find her and she's not preggers! Will keep your surgery in my prayers!
