Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi All!

Too bad about puppy coming back. Sounds like they need an older rescue dog. I know a puppy would be a bad idea for us, none of us would be able to spend the play and run time they need. We'll just take in older dogs that no one else wants from now on. As long as they get along with cats!

I'm making a batch of egg carton fire starters. I got 120 done, melting the wax for the last 108. That better hold the guys 'till the end of the season!

Night All!
Cind, you are going to put the boy scouts out of business with your fire starters.

8:eek:o AM and just barely a dusting of snow. this time I hope the weather guys are wrong..
they keep extending the time for the snow to start,,

yea, too bad the puppy came back, but she is such a sweet heart that we don't mind having her..

I still have a hot lead to get rid of her, when someone's tax refund comes back..

I turned down a chance to sell her yesterday,, the lady was from Singapore.. I don't want to get that involved in shipping a dog out of the country ..

I had another call from the family who is moving to just east of madison,, they will let me know by the end of this week .. they will take both of the boys .. but more deals drop through than follow through, so we will just sit and wait ..

I've really contemplated contacting you for a pup as I really need a farm dog around here since Rudy's passing. Lost our drake lastnight and a hen a few days before that. No mink this time but something sure is torquing me off in the killing department around here. I'm just not sure if I'm up for training a puppy with having a baby right now. I'm not as young as I used to be. Besides the money just isn't here right now as it's all going to pay for repairs on a wheeler that I traded my Jeep for that blew up after first ride. One repair shop ended up costing me $650 and 3 1 1/2 hr trips, then got it back and went right to a different repair shop that is costing me another $700 to fix all the screw ups the first guy cost me.

Spent the night with online help wiring in the digital thermostat I needed help with last year. Been running all night now and holding where I want it. Took out the wafer thermo and replaced with the digital as a backup. Not sure I like how it's wired up but it is working, just an extra cord I didn't want added.

Hi all, I have a question I'm hoping I can get some help with. How does one go about getting the testing done to sell at swaps? The swap I always went to never required it but now they've moved it too far away for me to go to. Next closest requires paperwork. I don't even know what that truly means. Is is expensive? Does literally every bird get tested? I always used the swap as a way to get rid of my overflow every year. I'm incredibly upset its gone as you can imagine. Any help, advice or anything appreciated!! I'm in quite a bind :(

Each bird being sold have to be tested that is older than 4 months. In order to sell chicks or younger birds you need to be Wisconsin Tested Flock where you need a certified tester come in test all birds in your flock over 4 months of age. The *** is good until June of the following year. Cost just depends on how many birds, how far the tester has to travel. Some swaps have a tester set up off site to test birds for sale prior to entering. Not sure where you used to go to swap that didn't require proof of testing, as it's state law to have them tested in order to sell. Not sure of your location, but their are many testers around the state. A few of us are going to the class in April to become testers ourselves.

Afternoon All....the breakfast went well this morning and the food was excellent.

I'll check those outside plugs at Camp. We have quite a few of those for sure.

Welcome to the Cheeseheads coonhound. Quite a few folks on here do the testing, and you will also need a NAIS number for the paperwork. What area of the State are you located?

Sounds like we are gonna have one more night below 0 before it goes away till next fall. I'll be waving goodbye to it with a smile on my face!

Coonhound...you can test your own flock....but you have to be certified to do it...and the antigen is very very costly. Some folks will do it for maybe 2 to 5 bucks a bird if you come to them for testing.
