Hello Everybody. What a nice weekend weather wise. Glad we got to snowmobile the Rock river from Koshkonong Lake to Watertown for a few days before it started to thaw. Saw a few juvenile Bald eagles along with their parents. Came across three dead chickens on the river. Didn't stop to inspect but was curious if they were killed by a predator or if some folks threw them on the river in hopes of the Eagles stopping to feed.
Speaking of predators, this guy was in my run helping himself to the feed. I just looked out and there he was, not five feet from some hens. He had it made , for a short cpl days.

I saw a Fischer once. While hunting in Amery. Black, long tail, and fast. Couldn't snap a pic. Along with this guy, who was a tad slower than the Fischer.

I had the pleasure of meeting TerriO this weekend. Picked up some eggs from her and her pretty birds. Here they are in my diy bator.

Well, I hadn't road Thunder much with the cold. However we went for awhile yesterday. I thought he would be so sassy! But he was very good. I couldn't believe it!!! And man. It was probably only an hour. But my inner thighs are sore! Looks like I will need to get back into the swing of things

Terri, when we come this year I would like to try to borrow the trailer and bring hjm along if you don't mind. I would love it if you could help me get up the confidence to go a little faster than a walk lolololol! Hehe

Nummy pancake kind of a day here too. Here is a great gluten free pancake recipe.
2 eggs
2 Oz reduced fat cream cheese
1-3 Tbls fake sugar (your choice)
Blend ingredients in bullet type mixer. Cook the same as you would normal pancakes. Top with Walden Farms zero calorie syrup. (Maple, Strawberry or Blueberry)
Delicious!

FT.... Someone with a better memory than me could probably say for sure, but it was a few months ago. He was helping a friend with his smoker and the door blew off and killed him. A very tragic accident.

Got a nice pile of muddy eggs today, at least the girls are starting to venture out of the coop!

I haven't been having very many eggs to sell the last couple of months. This week I had 5 dozen to sell. DH took them to church and sold all 5 to the family with the girls that Box. They were so grateful because they were paying big bucks for cage free eggs from the store and they still weren't that great. They missed my orange yolks and real flavor.

Yea, that's exactly why I started raising my own chickens!

it was gas fired,, the flame went out and apparently he tried to light it and the door blew off and hit him on the head,, dead instantly ..

I got a fun mix of Orp eggs today:
1 white
3 chocolate
3 jubilee
1 columbian project
2 Spangled/mottled
2 gold laced
2 chocolate cuckoo
2 project mottled
2 cuckoo
2 Lemon cuckoo
I really don't care for cuckoo, so hopefully that's not all that hatches.

If you hatch a black Cuckoo male you can use him for sexing chicks at hatch.
Sounds like a great group of eggs.

Hi my Cheesies!!

Been so long since I've been on here - expecting baby #4 will crunch your spare time for sure! Any day now little one will be here. And I will be back with squishy baby pics.

I did want to post about a new poultry ordinance that my little township is proposing. It's not a good one, very restrictive and over the top for such a rural area as Morrison. There is a town board meeting Tues night (3/10) at 7:30, if anyone else in our town would like to attend and voice their opposition. I can't promise I'll be there because I might be in labor or have a newborn. But wanted to get this out there.

Does anyone have any resources for this situation where an ordinance is being proposed for a very farmy, rural area? It's not that we haven't been allowed poultry before, just new overbearing rules concerning their keep (requiring license, annual fee, banning roosters and egg sale signs, no odors can be detected on another property, coops/feed must be rodent proof, coops must be 6' high, etc etc.) It's really quite ridiculous. Please PM me if you have anything, I won't really be able to come back to the thread.

Good morning all! It is NICE outside and my sidewalk (such as it is) is almost ice free! Yeah--
The puppies are finally quiet and sleeping so I cna think...10 puppies make a whole bunch of racket after their bellies are full and they are playing (and pooping) up a storm! Wormed again yesterday so there is that lovely stuff to pick up. They go in for spay and neuter next Saturday and then they will be parceled out to other fosters (I hope) so I can get a bit of house training done before they are adopted.
Cuties--you need to bring the kids so they can go in the pen and have some puppy kisses...they and the pups would love it for sure!








Nice to hear from you Frenchie...hedgies huh? my daughter wants one so bad....but they require some pretty special care I have heard. Cant wait to see you again at the Bash!

I hope you have good luck with the eggs! Yes those are 2nd gen OEs I gave her...I actually had a hard time getting a whole dozen! Been selling a lot lately! So were you just South of Aztalan State Park on the river? Were you on the Crawfish then or did you say the Rock River? I know that my friend "down in the hollow" will toss birds on the ice for the wildlife. SOme of you met them at the bash, Jerry and Terry, the state closed down their puppy business because they werent in the house I guess...or maybe they were selling too many dogs.

Delis those pancakes believe it or not taste very much like regular pancakes. Have them every day. We're eating low carb these days.
