I lost a hen today. I found her under the bench in the feed room (it's been open to the coop part) She was chewed out from the butt end. I mean, all the inards gone! Everyone else looked OK and no signs of extra blood. I know she had been trying to hide from the roosters, but wow.. And with the snow gone from around the coop, can't tell if something got in.

My laptop also seemed to have taken a dump. The graphics are screwed up so I'm on hubby's (older) desktop and the mouse is pooping out. It's a grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr day.

I read daily, but don't tend to post much. Always seems like when I do it's because something bad has happened but today I'll post good things..
Went to court on the 2nd and I now have guardianship of grandbaby Anellia. Now to deal with the daddy and visitations which won't be fun as he's in and out of jail and using full blown again. I'm sure I can handle it though. She's growing so fast, walking everywhere and even running some. Such a cute little booger.

Moved some of the birds out to the coops yesterday, cleaned all the brooders and have been letting the duckling

s out to the moveable brooder on the grass to get some play time without trashing my room anymore than they have already. The BLRW bantams are nearing point of law. Have to go pick up my SS to add to my breeding flock next week after this next batch of chicks hatch as I bought some for a friend and am hatching them out for her.

Been letting the geese out during the day to roam around in the ponds also.

I've been trying to hatch quail since last fall from my Snowflake breeding pair and have had nothing but bad luck. Finally have just a single one hatch a few days ago that I believe will make it. 5 more eggs go into lockdown tomorrow and 48 bantam eggs that go into lockdown on Saturday. This will be the funnest hatch yet as theirs so many varieties and colors. Of them the possibilities are Serama, D'uccles, Silkies, Showgirls and Cochins in paint, splash, Calico, Porcelain, Mille Fluer, Blue Mottled, Crele, Barred and more. Not sure if I stated before but bought Tyler a pair of black split to barred silkies and a Blue Mottled D'uccle pair for his birthday. Also got him 4 more geese, 1 Embden and 3 Toulouse so brings the count up to 7 Toulouse and an Canadian Hybrid. Lost our Blue Swede duck trio again to preds. In process of laying out a new improved poultry building, will share photos. Some of you may have seen it on Facebook floating around. Plan on each wall being roughly 20feet and goin from there, need to draw out the plans yet. Adding a breezeway from the addition to enter during cold weather and when you enter to the left will be an enclosed room for the bators for hatching and such. Going to keep the center in for brooders but won't be as many breeding pens to make room for the hatching/bator room.

Some of the BLRW and SS hens/pullets. Lost my cockerel along with 4 SFH cocks and the ducks to a predator, not sure what it was this time but know it wasn't a mink. Coyote tracks was all I found the first loss but nothing after. Getting 2 replacement BLRW cocks I had sold last fall to Tylers bosses mother.

I did get a few chicks from the new Foley birds before losing the cock though. I have 3 chicks, all blues. Only have a pic of 2 of them though, they are currently with the lone quail baby.

I am doing research on U tube about making raised panel doors..
I want to re-do my kitchen and then build a wall of shelves 8 feet tall by 8 feet wide along the stairway,, (I will take the open railing out) it will have 18 doors in it..
then at the head of the stairway, I want to build an entertainment center extending over the stairway a little way,, that will add some extra room in the living room..

I won't have any idea until they hatch honestly..And it's not 100% I'll have them, just a possibility. I will post pics after hatch is done. I bought 48 random bantam eggs with the dozen Calico Cochins I got for a friend I'm hatching them for her as she lives so far and I was there to buy them.
