Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Early Afternoon All....belated Happy Anniversary to you bl4 and Ross. Yep, doing good making it 20 years...just wait till you have been married as long as me and Suzie and Jim and Annie. Then you will know the true meaning of Automatic.

Nothing new here today. The fire sure feels good on this chilly day.

I still think with the price of meat those pigs would make some tasty chops frenchie. Then you would have another coop to fill with birds.

bigz

Nah huh wouldn't be big enough for another coop so I'll keep my piggies. Besides they busted the door off !
I'm trying to load pictures but no luck ! :(
Tiny tiny glimmer of hope for one maybe two eggs. Saw minute veining in one egg for Sure and maybe two. On 5 day should have seen it on my eggs for sure. Will keep them in just in case.

Hi All!

Thanks for the encouragement! So far the closest I've come to smoking is using one as a pacifier. Doing the "routine" without the light up helps a little.

Rudy has been trained to potty along the back fence line. The only poops near the house was when the snow was too deep to go far! LOL

That's it for now, going to see the doctor today so...... Night All!

I went back and deleted the post ..
.......jiminwisc......
Somebody's showing their what?!?!?!?       Oh, hackles. My bad  ;)

Don't be silly Jim. I thought you were pretty funny, and Amy was just joshing back at you. After all, what would the bash be without "pass the beans, pass the rolls, pass the baby"?  :lau
In fact, I do remember you & I passing the baby last year, no? I personally can't wait to hold the little punkin.

No hackles here! Everybody loves babies and it will be nice to pass her around, she'll be 2.5 months then and fat and squishy. I can't believe all the pink clothes that have poured in this last week. My whole fam was dying for a girl; 19 yrs since the last girl was born and 8 boys in a row between me, my mom, and my aunt. LOL

Fish Fry Friday again...tonight it's baked cod loins with ho-made fries...gonna skip the slaw for a ho-made squash pie for desert...tastes like pumpkin only better.

That's cool that you finally have the missing girl amy....my mom quit after 4 boys, but does have some granddaughters.

Nice late afternoon here..the snow is finally gone for now.

So BigZ, can I plant my tomatoes yet? I do not want to ruffle feathers starting my plants too soon again...... ;)

At the hacking up a lung stage..... Ugh. I am not a person who could ever be a couch potato. This week on the couch has sucked!

Found out a teacher at the school played the movie 'Law Abiding Citizen' for class. After listening to my son describe a horrific murder in the film and looking up the content, I was shocked that this film was intended to educate, and that it had an R rating and I was not notified the film was going to be shown. Emailed the teacher and they are going to come up with something else when they study their unit on drugs and crime. I cannot fathom the thought process that thought this was an educational movie intended to portray actual situations in the real world. What are documentaries for ?????? Ugh!

Ok, off soap box now.

My sister and brother-in-law had three boys and then their little girl. They are spaced two years apart, the oldest is a senior now and 6'4" tall. They grow up so fast.

We had a scare the other day, one of the guineas disappeared all day. The remaining 4 were milling around and calling alarm most of the day. It showed up at dusk and was in the roost when we closed up. It was a concern because the day before we had a raccoon hanging around the coop around 4:00, I saw it cross the road coming our way so I had locked the guineas in the coop before it got there.
I would suspect that the missing guinea is a female...and she has a nest somewhere. Find it and monitor the nest. If you hatch and want more guineas take the recent eggs(dont let her see you) Guineas ar notoriously bad mamas. THey will start with 20 and lose a few each day until all are lost.

This is whT I found when I went I to the bathroom before bed last night ????? Lol
Do you think they were the timing of brushing teeth? Gotta be pretty clean if they waited for sl these to run out!

just a few minutes ago I came to the chz hds and there were no words in any of the posts.. I logged off my puter and came back and now things seem to be normal,, wellll for here , that is ..

did I mention that I am thinking of NOT getting laying hens ? the guy about a mile down our road is selling nice large brown eggs for $2.oo/doz.. I can resell them for $2.5o/doz.. no work involved..

..........jiminwisc..........
REALLY? I like the taking care of the birds...C'mon Jim, you dont miss that? Wont folks want to see your "birds?

Not if you stop lighting them.

Oh and find something to keep your hands busy when the cravings hit. Plan on doing things that make smoking impossible.

I quit 9 years ago, and I still am surprised at how much more time I have in my day because I am not lighting, smoking, making sure I don't run out making sure I have them with me. finding opportunities to go smoke, cleaning up after them, and finding the cheapest place to buy them or coupons.

JJbreatheseasiertoo.
I let my chicken habit take over...wait, I never smoked. Good advice!

Goodie for brother friendship like that Jim....I also have a bro that tolerates me enough to spend quality time together...life spent with friends and loved ones is as good as it can get. I even learned to get along when it's painful to do so, with family members that should and need direction.

My brinsea is running spot on the mark....now it's up to fertile eggs to make this hatch happen.

I wish I had about 3 extra coops to really get er done...not to mention, a extra brooder or 3.

bigz
Oh Oh...do I hear CHicken Math taking ahold BigZ?

Do your best...I know it is hard...my mother just had another near miss heart attack and still cant get her to quit. She also has COPD issues. She is 78 and has her words saying she wants to quit but not her brain. Her Heart needs it though. Scary stuff.
So due to driving back and forth to Milwaukee at crazy hours around kids and work to check on mom, I am back in somewhat normal land, just exhausted. I still have about a third of the backyard to finish from winter dog pooop times two. Already moved about 4 wheelbarrows full to the back yard. sigh. Chicken coop is half cleaned...need to get to the other half. Have three breeds I want to add to my coop this year... 2 I have figured out eggs for, does anyone have any Amaracaunas...I would like some true blue eggs. (unk?)

otherwise just planning my garden. I really want to focus on the fruit bushes and trees this year. Hoping to find some free berries on craigslist. Got a few last year. Hoepin this might be one of my last years doing a big CSA. We love the farm we work with, but they got rid of all half shares and are only doing full shares. We get a little better each year with our planting and now the kids are getting bigger they leave me alone to do stuff or actually help. Finding what works best for growing in our area and what does not. And what the kids and I actually eat vs what is fun to grow. Love hearing creative planting ideas!!

ok so that is my update for now. back to work and craving sleep... maybe after school. Kids do homework...mom is just going o lie on coach and close her eye...zzzzz

BOth my MIL and FIL died from complications of smoking. Yes it is a decision that you need to make for yourself...please makeit so we can enjoy you a while longer Cind!
Kristi--have you seen that idea to grow strawberries in rain gutters? I am thinking about making one of those pergolas to do it!
