Missed a few days & I'm 5 pages behind. What do I remember? Hmmm.......... Frenchie, sorry your hatch wasn't better. Cind, congrats on the new arrivals. I hope they are all healthy & strong for you. And hugs for you too. I am sure he misses you just as much.

Congrats on all the hatches. Love all the pics of the fluffybutts. Kristi, I hope your mom gets better real fast. Hugs to you too. I have no idea about the mass either but I would continue the soaks & antibiotics, plus keep her in a dark area so she doesn't lay eggs. I hope she gets better soon. MomG, so good to see you back. I hope you will be able to make it to the bash again this year. So sorry about your hen too. Cute coop gc. No idea on the banty breeds, sorry.

Anyone know of anyone selling seabright hatching eggs?

good evening

what a day.. started out at 5 AM .. No nap..

got a call from the guy who was coming to buy Gus.. he was supposed to be here around noon,,
He actually was parked out on our road before 7 AM .. he did not want to wake us up so he called at 8AM,, He walked his dog from the truck parked down the road a little way.. I brought Gus and Frankie into the house..

I led him to the Rib Mt Truck stop and he fueled up and got some cash ..

Gus was a real trooper about the whole thing.. He did not understand what was going on, but he behaved fabulously ..

He let George pick him up and put him up into the truck.. then he had to push him across the seat.
Gus never struggled, growled or bit ..

He is on his way to NY by way of Florida ..

got a call tonight from Jim P, he is bringing a couple of dozen eggs for hatching,, I am assuming guinea eggs.. will find out when they arrive, I guess..

Frenchie, that slime is just the white of the egg,, not used up..
I believe the excessive amount of water is some of the slime that just broke down..
I don''t buy into the theory that chicks drown in the shell ..

the next time you start a batch of eggs, get your incubator stabilized ahead of time,, ONE thermometer.. keep trying different thermometers until you get one that you can trust.. Otherwise you will be second guessing one against the other forever..
If you have a dial type thermometer, calibrate it,, It only takes just a few minutes and is simple to do..

quit candling those eggs, candling is for the nosey, and it does not increase hatchability..

Jim?! Gus?

Kildare, if you put the hen on the wire she will break broody :) usually only takes a couple of days if you catch her right away.
Very nice Gchicks!
Thanks BigZ!

Cuties, I first put a nipple waterer in the cooler part of the brooder. And Two wood chip collecting red ring waters closer to the heating pad hangouts. When I would go to clean the warm side the chicks all ran to the cooler side and just started to peck the nipple. That was last week. I just put up the second nipple today. I still have one of the red ring waterers in for the slower learners but I'm pretty sure they all use the nipples now. I will stop the red waterers soon andgo buy a few more nipples. I hope that makes sense. They just see it and start pecking at it.

Chicken math is what is is for sure Bizio. I have another 18 going into lockdown Saturday. Yah, we like our New Glarus beer around here. I really hope my family and I can make it to the Bash. Would love to meet everybody.
