I have used those waterers for chicks and also train them how to drink out of a water bottle at hatch during spring and summer months when I'm going to swaps constantly as it allows me to bring water with during the trip and not worry about anyone drowning(learned mistake for sure).
Well my first batch of Salmon Faverolle x Iowa Blues have hatched with more to come. After some research lastnight with Angiebubs have found out that they will be color sexed but have to keep data on which is which yet. Color generator shows that all pullets will be Birchen in color and all males will be Salmon other than the white wing feathers will be blue. Started the cross to test the SF fertility while waiting for the pullets I purchased to mature a bit more. I was also surprised that the 5th toe from the SF was not as dominant as I orginally thought it would be in this cross as only one chick has one extra toe which more resembles a silkie than the SF. I ordered Favaucanas(SF x Ameraucana) and all those chicks have the promonant 5th toe. I also did notice 2 of the 3 chicks that hatched have a brown spot on the head and both of those I'm guessing are pullets by the comb. Time will show what to watch for as I do plan to continue to breed these since they both are Hertitage breeds and have good qualities.

And of course some pics of Anellia helping grandma Easter morning in her pretty little dress do chicken chores. She's growing so fast.

The hen in background roosting went to a new home Monday also as she killed 2 of my last 4 pure Foley BLRW chicks and nearly 5 other chicks, one of which was another of the Foley ones while I was at a bday party Sunday evening. She's lucky Tyler talked me into him taking her to Kathys(Tylers bosses mother) as she was going on the chopping block.
