Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Long day at the spay clinic today. 29 critters got fixed. Mostly feral cats.
Took longer than expected due to the number of female cats with litters.
One little kitty came that didn't weight enough to spay.....if she wasn't already spoken for she would have come home with me !!!!

Hey I do this too but on the other end of the state!

Aw Jim, they are adoooorrrable!
you have what looks to be a nice pair of gray. They are the mallard looking ones. I can not guess at sex. My phine will not allow me to enlarge right now.

See you I the am Momgille!!!!

And jj, a little later in the am!!!!

I need to finish chores and get to bed!

Nighties :)

Jim, if the lady thinks you are to blame, wait until she comes to pick the chicks up, then pull the eggs out of the incubator & crack a few open in front of her so she sees they were not fertile.

I would candle them first though so you don't get a nasty surprise. Finding a stinky might suck.

Or send all the unhatched ones home with her. Let her figure it out.

If she needs an amorous rooster, I have 2 she can have.

I lived and worked on a stable during an outbreak of a really nasty equine virus many years ago, and we used footbaths. A shallow dish big enough to step in, with a bleach solution. Swish your boots around each time you left the barn.

And of course washing with serious soap, rinsing down all equipment with a mild bleach solution, etc.

Washing things and then bleaching them is the way to go. Bleach does not work well on anything dirty.

she was here and gone,, I always offer the unhatched eggs to every one,, none of them have ever taken any home..
the thought went through my mind that I would crack all of the unhatched eggs into a bucket. and show that to them,,

I was not going to hatch this year,, well, maybe some guineas and now, call ducks..

I told Annie that I am not hatching for other people anymore.. People just don't get it,, Not every egg hatches and sometimes you get a lousy hatch rate,,

I don't know how robust their flock is, either.. she said she has 4 roosters and about 28 hens..

there is so much that I have no control over, and I don't like to come out looking like the bad guy.

anybody want to buy about $2,000.oo worth of hatching equipment ?

Don't let them get to you, Jim. If you have told them the variables for hatching then there is nothing more that can be done. If they didn't listen to your wise words or follow your directions, then they will be stuck with a crappy hatch, plain and simple. They have noone to blame but themselves.

They need to collect fresh eggs for a much shorter period of time, don't allow the eggs to get too cold and wait until it is flippin breeding season so the boys can do their job adequately. Not in that order.

well, batch #3 from a different lady is due today..
Let's see how this one goes.. 192 eggs, less the one I cracked..

I set these very late at night, so tomorrow might be more like the due date..

I hope it warms up a bit tomorrow,, I want to fix the roof that the snow caved in on the peacock pen,, I thought it was just pushed down,, Annie said it tore a hole in the roof.. A couple hours of work should take care of it..
I sure am getting a kick out of these calls.. and they are as loud as guineas ..
One flew a circle around me in the coop,,

more good news,, one of the geese is still sitting tight on the eggs in the chicken coop.. she has about 20 or 22 eggs.. I am going to let her have them all.. whatever hatches, hatches...
28 more days to go for her .. I just hope the other goose leaves her alone.. so far , so good.
