Afternoon all..yep the biggest hazard with tractors is if you don't have a wire bottom is they get caught when moving....if the leg is broke, you need to cull..sorry.

Sorry about the losses...I would not rule out bobcat either...they are relentless once they find the easy prey....time for a trailcam.

Yep, talk about a wasted day Jim. I was gonna use the splitter and there it was a flat tire.....half a day shot by the time I had it fixed...good story for the fire at the bash. Should be a lot of them this year.....Can't wait!

I actually used a needle and quilting thread for stitching the neighbors chicken when her sisters dog grabbed and shook it last year. I didn't sew it tightly just enough to have some edges meet and I put a ton of triple antibiotic in the wound and then finally sprayed with blue coat. The neighbor then put her in confinement for 2-3 days and she is just fine 18 months later. We never removed the stitched I am sure chickens have super healing powers and any thread eventually was just shed. Good luck though, whatever it was will be back.

Irish, you don't need to caulk, stitch or superglue. Just rinse it daily with saline solution and put antibiotic ointment (without pain killer) on it. I've had chickens in much worse condition than this. She'll be fine as long as it doesn't get infected. They can grow an amazing amount of skin back pretty quickly.

Thanks, BBP. I picked up some Blu Kote today. She seems sore and sits in the nest a lot but is getting around OK to the food and water.
