good morning
I was on the computer last night, but it locked up on me when I tried to access BYC,, so I just turned it off and watched TV until the storm came through and cancelled that out.. just when David Letterman came on,, so I went to bed.. Yea, before midnight, and now here I am,, 4 AM and wide awake..
I started my new job yesterday,, Once a week I am going to be mowing a LARGE lawn for a lady about a half mile from me,, first thing I had to do was replace the V-belt on the mower deck.. after that things went quite well.. the real fun part was riding over the septic mound ..
We picked up our 100 Cornish X pullets yesterday.. they immediately began to eat and drink as if they were starving,, were supposed to be day old's,, but I think they are older.. seemed big, and the eating and drinking was more indicative of older chicks..
they were delivered to the feed store directly from Sunnyside Hatchery.. No USPS involved.. all of the chicks were very lively and look healthy ..
we had another nice rain about at dusk.. good for the garden,, the onions are looking good and sending up new tops.. I trimmed the tops when I planted them,, and the peas are popping up through the dirt..
You can spread your chicken poo on the garden and till it in,, give it a week for root crops, corn can be planted right away,, in two weeks it will be composted into the soil just about the time the root crops start to grow..
I try to till it about once a week for a couple of weeks before I plant, though,, but if you are pressed for time you can do it this way ..
my goose is sitting tightly on 22 eggs yet.. when I was setting up the brooder pens just above her head, she got a little agitated,, that brought Baby Huey to her rescue.. normally he is quite docile, but he kept trying to bite Annie and me.. finally I kicked him (lightly) and he walked with his pride hurting ..
