Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yesterday, I had a bald eagle swoop down and grab one of the young cochins that was right behind me. He flew right next to me, so close I could have grabbed him. My dog was barking at him and chasing him. That may explain a couple missing ducks. I've never had an issue with eagles. This is upsetting.

They're usually opportunists and scavengers - they'd rather pick up a dead fish than actually fish for it most days. He/she may have run out of road kill.

browncow, I ak 20 min from FdL. And my hubby also does construction! What kind of chickies do you have?
I am a new auntie again today!!

Hello!
1f603.png
beautiful eggs! I have an assortment of chickies at the moment, mostly hatchery. I have a couple CCL and a couple Marans that I hope to breed sex linked OEs eventually. I also have 3 imported English Jubalee Orp chicks, 2 of which I'm hoping are girls.

I have a daughter in Fond du lac, and 2 grnd daughters in Oshkosh. What do you need?

Hello! I was wondering what the area is like? I've got 3 littles that will be starting school over the next several years, so I'm curious if there is a particular area that's better than another?

Thanks in advance for any input!!

Evening all,
It's been awhile since posting but occasionally read a page or so.... Always lots to read and not enough time to write.

I have a EE rooster who isn't so gentle with the ladies and they are rather featherless unfortunately ( not all from him, been through several Roos trying to find a good fit) and I just can't put up with it anymore. I almost took care of him tonight but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask if anyone would like to have him . He's not a bad rooster though, friendly enough, never been rude to a person. Let me know if interested.

H&R, sorry to hear of your loss.
BBP, sorry to hear of eagle troubles! Yikes, I've had a hawk get one of mine but never had an eagle come in for one and they are around almost daily. I hope it stays that way too. I agree that it's likely feeding chicks

Hosting my grandmas 91st birthday party tomorrow , lots together ready yet and will be busy running the kids to soccer, karate and flag football. Wish I had a clone! Need to get my garden in and starting to panic that it's only been tilled. :(

Good luck with the party Amy! And put that boy in a timeout for a week. Hos tune will be sure to turn :)
browncow, I recommend sending the kiddos to school in one of the small town schools around Fdl. That is what we are happy with.
bbp, so sorry abput the dark egg layer. I love the variety. We ordered Super Blue from DMrippy. Very eggcited to see their eggs!

Like any mid-sized city, there are good parts and bad parts. I do not know about education/schools, but, will ask my grand-daughter. She is a teacher and will probably be able to give a fair assessment.

Wish I cold get pics to load on here, I'm wondering what that first batch are growing into! LOL
