Hi browncow, I'm originally from Plymouth, so I'd be happy to help answer questions about that town if you have any.![]()
Angela
Welcome to the newbies!!!
kristi, sounds like a lot of work for you. Maybe you could just put an ad out and find a dealer that might want a package deal?
we have a couple broodies here too. I am giving them the duck eggs. As we never seem to hatch the ducks well in the bator.
jim, I think I remember you saying you put some in. How long ago? You'll have very to lmk how they hatch!
We are near Waupun /Brandon. And absolutely love the area!!
That might be a possibility. But there are many possibilities that it could be unfortunately.
I don't mean last week or even yesterday. How does she look today? Still scrapping with the girls for food? Bright eyed, energetic, good comb color? These are all things you need to try to observe on your birds on a daily basis to help keep them healthy & catch potential problems before they arise or get too far gone to do anything effective about. I think you have been doing so since you noticed your red was not herself and for that you get an atta girl.![]()
As you spend more time with them, you will recognize what is normal behavior and what is not. You want to try to catch it as early as you can if they are ill, but it can be difficult since they are a prey animal. They will go to great lengths to mask any ailment or weakness to avoid becoming a meal.

Oh my, my son noticed this am when he opened the coop, I had to go out last night and actually put Gimpy and one of the reds in the coop to shut the door, they were both on the roost out in the run, my son noticed that Gimpys leg is quite a bit paler than her unhurt leg. Anyone know what is going on....is this normal...or do I still have a problem...she is such a sweet girl I would not want to lose her, unlike Dinner. I have also decided to name the poop problem chick-squirtbottom, altho, she is much better now. I have two blacks, anyone got names? That might be a possibility. Maybe, maleware prolem? I have ads, but, they are over to the side. So,,I just ignore them...don't have any that pop up in the middle of this screen. We spent the entire day fencing, mowing and trimming. It was a PERFECT day for me to work outside. Mostly cloudy and cool.
DANG! These ads are sooooooo annoying!
Sounds like you might have a virus. I had to have my computer "cleaned" or whatever it is called. It sounds like you have something running in the background. If you have a Windows system, to to task Manger and click on one that is running. You should be able to tell if it is necessary for the running of your computer. It will say "running" for everything that is presently running. You will have the option of UnInstalling that program. Hope this helps. I too have had problems with typing. A lot of letters, especially at the beginning of a word will not type and I have to back up. I thought it was just my old fingures, but, maybe not if you are having the same problem. I will ask my son about that when he gets home.I had one ad that would pop up over the center and the screen and not go away. I had to shut down the window completely inorder for it to go away. And it was a public service ad for Not Texting and Driving. No way to close it down.
Now I am having problems with the sound from the ads - even with the sound turned off, I will randomly get ad blaring out of my computer at top volume.
And problems with typing, I have to type slower or the computer misses and mixes the letters.
That was suppose to say......GO to task manager.Sounds like you might have a virus. I had to have my computer "cleaned" or whatever it is called. One leg paler than the other definitely does not sound normal. Especially when the leg is injured. It might be a blood clot? That is the only thing I can think of offhand that might cause the skin to be pale in one of the extremities. Anyone else have any ideas?Oh my, my son noticed this am when he opened the coop, I had to go out last night and actually put Gimpy and one of the reds in the coop to shut the door, they were both on the roost out in the run, my son noticed that Gimpys leg is quite a bit paler than her unhurt leg. Cuties here they are... only 6... My bad 3 cracked when she started rolling and I didnt have bubble under her for cushioning... Once cracked she rolled them from the nest box in the far back right into the middle of this little brooder pen... One was unfertile and a 2nd failed to hatch... Once just tipped over so 6 strong healtht chicks... BTW she is a mottled Java and I wish I could have a farmette with an old building... I love my dear Gary but he is not the handy type... But with my direction we built this little brooder He cuts on the lines I draw and screws where I tell him to OMG did I type that?. Have a good chuckle on me today!![]()
