Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Glad to hear it was a good time ! So instead of listing who didn't sjow... who did ? I'm in town and ET called to tell me at 7 pm tonight he was out watering and the horses spooked. Thought one hit the hot wire. Then the guineas started acting up. Low and behold there was a fox in the tall grass. Hard to believe a fox did that damage. Maybe he's just here to pick up what the other critter left behind? I posted on predator site and some suggested a hawk. Said an owl would have eaten the feathers???

I think I would find a different predator site..

Really bummed that we missed the bash. ET is still hacking away. I'm not as bad as he is but my toothache managed to pop it's ugly head again. Made a decision to call dentist tomorrow and have it pulled. I refuse to spend $2000 on a root canal and cap without a lifetime guarantee ! No dental insurance sucks !
Sad news something got my silkie/cochin rooster the other night. Any idea? Warning pretty gruesome picture. Ate a hole through the back and emptied cavity. Left a feathered mess. Head intact.

I'm so sorry! Predators are a pain!! My guess would be possum or coon, maybe a skunk? I've got a rat problem currently and it's just picking off my babies, the birds bigger than a grapefruit haven't been touched. Someone posted a predator description list on the Indiana thread for me but I can't get it to copy from on my phone :(

Quote: don't get too relaxed with the rats.. I watched as a couple of rats went into my chicken coop and killed a 4 pound fryer .. it took only a second .. I didn't have time to grab my gun which was within arms reach from me,,

an owl would eat the head first.. and sometimes that is all he will eat..
I am sticking to my "rat" vote..

Wow! I wouldn't have guessed that! I've had multiple traps set for a week now and so far it has eluded them :( I really don't want to set out poison but that may be where we are headed quickly. I have a momma on a nest and the rats need to be GONE!

Sandi, in my opinion it could have been just about anything. And then something else could have come along and had a taste, and then something else. Unless you caught it in the act, I don't think there really is an accurate way to tell exactly what made the initial kill. But I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

Let's see. Bigz, Terri, Babylady, Amy, Cindy, ChickenScratch, Ma Hubbard, Raim, Irish & us were all there for Saturday. If I missed anyone, I am really sorry.

We played pass the baby again this year

and Terri was playing with bugs again.

Here is a pic of a few of the raffle prizes. There were bags of feed, waterers, a chick jungle gym, some stone jewelry, a retro tin sign and a bunch of other nice items that I can't remember. Sorry!

Browncow, I would try using peanut butter first as bait. I would only use poison as a last resort. I do understand the desperation of wanting a pred gone fast though. We had a mink that was wreaking havoc in my coop a few months ago. Good luck.

I am glad you guys had fun this weekend!
Things are busy here like always. So much so that we now have to separate transport for the kiddos since so many things run into each other!
Sorry about your roo Frenchie :(
Sydney first ball game is tomorrow! Hope she does well! She has been working pretty hard :)
Blake got his shirt and hat tonight for tball. He was thrilled!! Lol
