Firstchick..... your new so you probably didn't know, my youngest moved to Hawaii about a year ago. He even owns land and is probably buying a small house there.

BTW.... checked the weather for there, they have a cold front going through, mid to low 50's all week and down to 30's at night! WOW

Yes, I am too new to know alot of stuff......everyone will just have to chill when I ask/make strange statements. Went to FF and bought some barn lime for my cicken coop....will clean it tomorrow and lime it before I put bedding back in. Wow, all my chicks layed me an egg today....now, that I have only five....its easy to count. Also, picked up some electrolytes....good thing it said 1/4 teas to gallon of water (that took me a while to find) =didn't know how I was going to mix the packet with 200+ gals of water. I don't even know if my bathtub holds that much.

Barn Lime will burn the chickens feet....you need to use garden lime in my opinion...a whole different lime.

Oh dear Lord, I kill one chicken and about burn the feet off the others....I asked the woman if that is what I needed, guess she does not know anymore than I do.

Sorry for all the losses! I once heard "Sometimes chickens just wake up dead" ! I thought that was BS until I found out for myself that it was actually true.
Some idiot hit one of my guineas (nice pied) on the road. We live out in the middle of nowhere on gravel rd. Can't tell me whoever did it didn't know we have animal but the part that still ks is they didn't move it to the side.of the road and by the looks of the tire tracks looked like they I tension ally hit it.Just sayin .... I know $hit happens but have a little respect for the animal you just killed!

that sucks about the guinea.. we have had a couple of them hit within the past two weeks.. we expect it to happen,, I just hope someone doesn't swerve to miss one and end up in the ditch..
we have an eagle hanging around,, he picks up the carnage .. someone will prolly run him over one of these days..

I had a guy run almost fully into the ditch to run over a gander a couple of years ago..
I know the birds do not belong on the road, and I don't blame people if they hit one accidentally,
but out speed limit is only 45 mph here and there should be no excuse for anyone going the speed limit to hit a bird.. it is these jokers going 20 over the limit that can't seem to miss.. plus the ones who hit them on purpose ..

I am just back home from yet another free meal.. 4 piece walleye , fries and a salad..
I played a penny machine while waiting for our meals.. made enough to pay for all 3 meals..

I got most of the lawn mowed.. last time I could smell a belt burning,, It must have been the reverse gear belt.. I lost reverse about half way through mowing.. from then on I had to be careful to not put myself into a situation where I would have had to back up.. d@m the torpedoes , full speed ahead ..

Yay!!! Another graduate in the house! Two down and two to go....... Nice ceremony too, very semi-formal which makes it fun for all who attend. It is going to be very odd only sending two kids off to school next year.

we are taking the kiddos to the dinosaur thing in Green Bay tomorrow. I think B will really enjoy it!
I am going through the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte. And selling off pairs. I am able to pick obvious culls. But there are a lot of good ones! It will be hard to pick the keepers for sure this year!

LOL I don't know if I should feel bad for Jon (Young Son) or not. Guess they have a cold front going through... It's actually colder there than here! Temps in the 50's all week for them.... weird.

Jim, those puppies are adorable.

I am happy to report that all 15 of my gang is still alive after a few nights in the barn. That means I must have done at least a decent job of keeping them safe- or that no predators have been around yet...
